Description
Hide Nakata is the former captain of the Italian national team, Orpheus, in the Football Frontier International tournament. He is a midfielder of remarkable skill, whose presence on the field is so commanding that he is considered to be on par with the world's strongest players. His character design features brown hair, a tanned complexion, and dark eyes, often dressed in casual but stylish attire like a white shirt under a black top.

In terms of personality, Nakata is a calm, perceptive, and considerate individual. He is not one for the spotlight, despite his legendary status. His primary motivation is not personal glory but the growth of his team. He astutely observes that Orpheus has become overly reliant on his abilities, which would ultimately limit their potential as a cohesive unit. To force them to develop their own strength and problem-solving skills, he makes the difficult decision to temporarily leave the team and travel the world with a friend named Luca, acting only as a spectator.

Nakata's role in the story is crucial despite his limited playtime. He serves as a benchmark of elite-level soccer and a mentor figure to his successor, Fidio Aldena. He believes Fidio has great leadership potential, and his actions are largely aimed at pushing Fidio and the rest of Orpheus to evolve beyond their dependence on a single star player. His most significant on-screen appearance is during the match between Inazuma Japan and Orpheus. When his team struggles despite mastering a new tactic, Nakata returns to the field, reassuming his role as captain. His return dramatically shifts the momentum of the game, showcasing his ability to inspire confidence and elevate the play of everyone around him. The match ends in a draw, and afterward, he formally hands the captain's armband to Fidio, acknowledging his growth and officially entrusting him with the team's future. He continues to watch over Orpheus from the sidelines, offering encouragement after their subsequent loss to the formidable team Little Gigant.

Throughout this journey, Nakata develops from an absentee captain into a supportive mentor, with his relationship with Fidio being the most central to his character arc. His key relationship is also with his quiet companion Luca, who is often seen with him as he observes matches. Development-wise, Nakata starts as a player who isolates himself for what he believes is the greater good, but he evolves by reintegrating with his team at a critical moment to provide the necessary push, before finally and fully stepping aside to let the next generation lead.

Notably, his entire philosophy is based on a form of tough love; he refrains from playing so the team can learn to resolve crises alone, believing this is the only path to genuine strength. His abilities on the pitch are top-tier, with his most notable special move being the Brave Shot, a powerful shooting technique. In the context of the games, he is an exceptionally difficult hidden character to recruit, requiring the player to meet a long and complex list of challenges, which reflects his status as a legendary and almost mythical player within the game's universe.
