Michael C. Pizzuto is an American voice actor recognized for his extensive work in anime dubbing, particularly for the Animax Asia network, and for his voice work in animation and live-action dubs based in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Born on May 27, 1962, Pizzuto's path to voice acting was rooted in a lifelong passion for performance that began in his youth. He grew up in Roseville, Michigan, and his early interest in acting was sparked by his mother's involvement in theater. He pursued this interest academically, training in Theatre Performance at Northern Michigan University, from which he graduated with top honors.
Pizzuto's career took a formative turn when he accepted a one-year theater contract in Hong Kong. He ultimately remained there for nearly 13 years, during which he established himself as a prominent figure in the region's dubbing industry. It was in Hong Kong that he began voicing characters for numerous shows on networks such as Disney Channel Asia, Cartoon Network Asia, and Animax. He amassed credits in over 60 animation series during this period. In 2019, Pizzuto relocated to Los Angeles, California, to continue his voice acting career with studios like Roundabout Entertainment and VSI Los Angeles.
Pizzuto's career is distinguished by a wide range of voice roles in anime, primarily for English dubs produced by Animax Asia. He is known for voicing leading and supporting characters in several long-running and popular series. Some of his most notable roles include Senbei Norimaki in the Animax Asia dub of Dr. Slump, Hiroshi Nohara and Action Mask in the Animax dub of Crayon Shin-chan, and Mitsui in the Animax dub of Slam Dunk. He also lent his voice to the character Viral in the Animax Asia dub of Gurren Lagann. His filmography also includes Hideki Nogi in Kengan Ashura, additional voices in Vinland Saga, and Anselm Rybrant in Gamera -Rebirth-. He has also contributed to video game dubbing, providing additional voices for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Beyond his work in Japanese anime, Pizzuto's voice can be heard in a variety of other animated projects and live-action dubs. His animation credits include roles in Scissor Seven as Shennong Old Herbalist and Bad Exorcist as Mirek. His live-action dubbing work is extensive, featuring performances in numerous international series and films for streaming platforms like Netflix and HBO-Max. Notable among these are his roles as the Owner in Kamen Rider Den-O, Yusuke Onodera in Kamen Rider Decade, and Marbod in Barbarians. In addition to dubbing, he has also worked as a host for a weekly children's radio show on RTHK Radio 3 in Hong Kong for almost a decade. Since moving to Los Angeles, he has remained active in the voice acting community, serving as a counselor for the Creators Society's Voice Actors Branch and participating in industry events.
