Description
Lala Satalin Deviluke is the first princess of the distant planet Deviluke, born to King Gid Lucion Deviluke and Queen Sephie Michaela Deviluke. She is the eldest of three sisters, with younger twin siblings Nana Astar Deviluke and Momo Belia Deviluke. Her early life on her home world was one of royal privilege, but it came with the expectation that she would eventually enter into an arranged marriage to secure the succession of the throne. Unwilling to accept any of the suitors presented to her, Lala fled Deviluke and randomly transported herself to Earth, where she landed in the bathtub of a human teenager named Rito Yuki. To avoid being taken back by her father's forces, she hastily claimed that Rito had confessed his love to her, a misunderstanding that led to an official engagement. Over time, what began as a convenient fabrication turned into genuine romantic feelings for Rito, and her central motivation shifted from escaping her royal obligations to building a life with him.

Lala is defined by a distinctly childish and impulsive personality. She is highly extroverted, curious, and perpetually energetic, often acting on instinct without considering the consequences. Her naivety regarding Earth customs frequently leads to comedic misunderstandings and awkward situations, particularly because she has no concept of personal modesty, a result of growing up being bathed by maids on Deviluke. Despite this lack of restraint, she is deeply caring, generous, and compassionate, showing a strong desire to make everyone around her happy, even people she barely knows. Her optimism is infectious, and her honesty and lack of pretense make her popular among her classmates. Over the course of the story, her relationship with Rito and her growing circle of friends encourages a gradual emotional maturation, especially in how she understands and expresses her feelings.

As the first in line to the throne, Lala plays the role of a catalyst for many of the events in the original series. Her presence on Earth brings a range of alien characters and conflicts into Rito's life, and her inventions often drive the plot into chaotic or comedic directions. In the sequel series, To Love-Ru Darkness, her role becomes less central as focus shifts to other characters, but she remains a foundational figure in the narrative.

Key relationships define her character arc. Her bond with Rito is the heart of the story, evolving from a fabricated romance into a sincere mutual affection, though Rito's own feelings remain conflicted due to his other romantic interests. Lala shares a close, affectionate bond with her younger sisters Nana and Momo, often acting as a supportive older sibling even when their plans diverge. She also develops a warm friendship with Haruna Sairenji, another girl who has feelings for Rito, and she is generally well-liked by her other classmates.

Lala possesses abilities far beyond those of a human. As a member of the Devilukian and Charmian races, she has superhuman strength, speed, and durability, able to punch with enough force to create shockwaves and withstand heavy physical attacks. Her most distinctive physical trait is a long, thin tail ending in a heart-shaped tip, which can fire destructive laser beams. However, the tail is also a sensitivity weak point, especially for female Devilukeans; grabbing it temporarily weakens her. Lala is also a genius-level inventor, considered one of the most intelligent beings in her galaxy. She creates a wide array of gadgets and devices, though many are whimsical, toy-like, and prone to malfunctioning in ways that cause unintended chaos. Her greatest invention is Peke, a small robot that can transform into her clothing or other forms. Additionally, she inherited her mother's enhanced metabolism, which prevents her from gaining weight regardless of what she eats.
