TV-Series
Description
Kozue Orihara, a second-year transfer student at Suimei Academy, appears small and youthful with long yellowish-orange hair styled into two curly pigtails topped by an ahoge and striking red eyes. She wears the standard school uniform with white over-the-knee stockings and calls herself Kozupii. Kozue is defined by her inability to speak verbally, a condition rooted in profound shyness and past trauma. She compensates for this silence with telepathic abilities, projecting the voice of her heart directly into the minds of others.

Beneath her cheerful and outwardly positive demeanor lies a well of insecurity and anxiety. She tends to be caring and eager to help those around her, yet her naivety sometimes makes her susceptible to manipulation and danger. While she presents a friendly and affectionate front, especially toward her classmate Takumi Nishijou, she is also described by him as having a maniacal streak, and her behavior can veer into endearingly irritating territory.

Kozue's primary motivation is to connect with others and overcome her debilitating fear. She becomes closely allied with Sena Aoi, and the two are often seen together outside of school. Her feelings for Takumi grow over the course of the story, and after chapter six, they become friends, though both later endure group stalking that tests her resolve. Her role in the narrative places her among the Gigalomaniacs who work to dismantle the Noah II project and confront the organization NOZOMI. As the serial killings intensify, she herself becomes a target, forcing her to face her deepest fears.

Her development is marked by a gradual reclaiming of her voice. Through the events of the series, Kozue begins to heal from her psychological wounds. In later continuities, it is revealed that she eventually regains the ability to speak normally whenever she chooses, though she occasionally still uses telepathic communication. This growth underscores her journey from a muted, insecure girl to someone who can assert herself on her own terms.

Kozue Orihara's notable abilities stem from her nature as a Gigalomaniac. Her primary power is telepathy, allowing her to broadcast her thoughts and feelings directly into the perceptions of others, effectively bypassing her mutism. This ability ties her to the larger conflict surrounding the New Generation Madness and the manipulation of collective reality, making her both a vulnerable target and a vital ally in the struggle against those who seek to control the city.
