Description
Miyako Komagusu is the daughter of Takahito Komagusu, a Shinto priest who serves at a local shrine in the town of Suiten. Growing up in a household steeped in religious and supernatural practices, she regularly assists her father with exorcisms and other rituals. Her home is a focal point of paranormal activity, which has shaped her from a young age.

Miyako possesses the rare ability to see ghosts and perceive spiritual phenomena. She can see the out-of-body spirit of Tarou Komori during his out-of-body experiences and sense when the three main boys—Tarou, Makoto, and Masayuki—first enter the Unseen World. This ability sets her apart from ordinary people and makes her a bridge between the physical and spiritual realms.

Her personality is notably mature for her age. She often chides the older boys for acting childishly and is not afraid to scold her own father when he drinks too much. Despite her serious demeanor, she is not without vulnerability. After becoming possessed by spirits at one point, her classmates begin to avoid her, highlighting the isolation that comes with her gift. Her most defining internal conflict emerges when Tarou suggests she might be the reincarnation of his deceased sister. This idea deeply disturbs her because she has been strenuously convincing herself that she is only herself and nobody else. The suggestion causes her to distance herself from Tarou, ignoring him as if they had never met.

Miyako's role in the story is that of a key supporting character. She is the local expert on the supernatural, providing insight into the spiritual events that unfold in Suiten. Her connection to the shrine and her father’s work places her at the center of the paranormal investigations. Later in the series, when her father is hospitalized, she becomes a target of the Oogami group, who attempt to manipulate her into becoming their new matriarch. The efforts of Tarou and his friends ultimately prevent this.

Her key relationships include her father, Takahito, whom she both assists and scolds; Tarou, with whom she shares a complex bond involving the reincarnation theory; and the other two boys, Makoto and Masayuki, whom she often treats with a mixture of exasperation and concern. Her development is marked by her struggle to maintain her own identity in the face of supernatural pressures and the expectations others place on her, ultimately learning to accept her role on her own terms.

Notable abilities include seeing spirits, sensing otherworldly phenomena, and participating in exorcisms. She also displays a strong capacity for self-awareness and emotional resilience, even when confronted with events that challenge her sense of self.
