TV-Series
Description
Mikura Suzuki is a central character in the Mezzo series, serving as the combat specialist and frontline enforcer of the Danger Service Agency, a small freelance operation that takes on high-risk jobs for money. Originally a street orphan, she grew up fighting to survive, often stealing food alongside a friend named Sakura. Her life changed when she was arrested by police detective Kenichi Kurokawa during one such theft. While in jail, she met Tomohisa Harada, an inventor incarcerated for building illegal sex androids. After their release, the three joined forces to form the Danger Service Agency, with Mikura providing the muscle for the team.
Her personality is defined by a mixture of toughness and hidden warmth. She is strong-willed, determined, and highly competitive, often acting unsociable and quick to resort to violence at the first sign of trouble. She can be a cold-blooded killer when the situation demands it, yet beneath her aggressive exterior lies a kind soul. Her impulsive nature and tendency to shoot first sometimes put her teammates in difficult positions, but she remains fiercely loyal to them.
Mikura’s motivations are straightforward: she thrives on danger and enjoys the adrenaline of each mission, though the financial reward is also important. Her role within the DSA is to handle the physical confrontations, and she is more than capable in both unarmed combat and firearms. A self-taught martial artist with skills equivalent to a black belt, she also uses defensive techniques learned from Kurokawa. In gunfights, she is a formidable opponent.
A notable and uncontrollable ability she possesses is limited precognition: under stress, she experiences brief flashes of the future, which sometimes provide insights into the group’s next assignment. This ability is also present in her adversary Momomi Momoi, who is later revealed to be her half-sister. This revelation, along with a reunion with her childhood friend Sakura—who was once Momomi’s lover and seeks revenge for Momomi’s death—forms a significant part of Mikura’s personal development, forcing her to confront the consequences of her violent life and the connections she has lost.
Despite her hardened demeanor, Mikura has a lighter side, enjoying karaoke in her downtime. Her appearance shifts between the Mezzo Forte OVA and the later Mezzo DSA television series: in the former she has a short pink bob cut with a cross-shaped hairpin and yellow eyes, while in the latter her hair is styled into pigtails and her eyes are blue.
