Metabee is the main Medabot belonging to Ikki Tenryou in the anime Medabots. His full name is short for Metal Beetle, and he is a KBT-type Medabot designed after a Japanese rhinoceros beetle, or kabuto. His body is primarily gold and yellow with white and black accents, and his head features a distinctive split-ended horn that houses missile launchers.

Metabee was originally owned by Henry, a former world champion who used him to win the championship before the infamous Ten Days of Darkness incident. After that event, Metabee fell out of use and was eventually sold to Ikki as an outdated model. When Ikki discovered a rare medal and inserted it into the body, Metabee came to life with a unique and powerful personality.

Personality-wise, Metabee is headstrong, overconfident, and stubborn. He often ignores Ikki's commands during Robattles, preferring to rely on his own judgment and strength. This stubbornness frequently leads to arguments between him and Ikki, but Metabee is deeply loyal to his friends and will go to great lengths to protect them. He is also known for his love of watermelons, a trait tied to his beetle type.

Metabee's primary motivation is to prove his strength and win battles, but over the course of the series he grows to value teamwork and his bond with Ikki. He serves as Ikki's partner in Robattles, taking on opponents from the Rubberobo Gang and other challengers. His role is central to the story, as he accompanies Ikki on his journey to become a champion while uncovering the secrets of rare medals.

Key relationships include his owner Ikki, with whom he shares a close but sometimes contentious partnership; his rival Rokusho, another iconic Medabot; and his former owner Henry, who later returns as the Phantom Renegade. Metabee also interacts with other Medabots like Sumilidon and gains allies throughout his adventures.

In terms of development, Metabee matures from a disobedient and reckless fighter into a more reliable and strategic partner. He learns to trust Ikki's decisions and works better with others, though his core confidence and rebellious streak remain.

Metabee's notable abilities revolve around ranged combat. He is equipped with a revolver on his right arm for accurate shots, a machine gun on his left arm for rapid fire, and tracking missiles from his head. His rare medal grants him access to the Medaforce, a powerful energy attack that he fires from both arm cannons, often accompanied by his catchphrase. The Medaforce is a mysterious and destructive ability that even expert scientists cannot fully explain. In later series, he gains access to Action Mode and Demolition Mode, enhancing his combat capabilities further.
