Alcyone is a tall, glamorous sorceress with fair skin and violet-red eyes, originally a disciple of the master mage Clef. She betrayed her mentor and her duty to protect the Pillar of Cephiro to follow the high priest Zagato, driven not by ambition but by a deep, unrequited love for him. Her devotion is all-consuming and one-sided, as Zagato views her merely as a disposable tool. Alcyone is a powerful ice mage, capable of spells like Sharp Ice Shootings, Ice Spear Attack, and summoning monsters from the spirit realm, and she pilots a cat-like Demon God. Despite her skill, her emotional instability and tendency to underestimate opponents often undermine her effectiveness. In the first season, she serves as the first major enemy of the Magic Knights, who defeat her. After Zagato and Princess Emeraude die, Alcyone is left broken and is brainwashed by the evil witch Debonair, becoming a slave in a new plot. Later, she regains her sanity and redeems herself by betraying Debonair to help the Magic Knights, an act that costs her her life. Even after her brainwashing is lifted, she projects her unresolved feelings for Zagato onto his younger brother Lantis, highlighting her inability to move past her trauma. Her journey is a tragic descent into despair and a fatal redemption, making her a pitiable figure who confuses loyalty with the chance for emotional reciprocation.
