Description
Lunch is a human woman introduced in the original Dragon Ball series who also appears in Dragon Ball Z. She is defined by a unique condition that causes her to switch between two entirely different personalities whenever she sneezes. One personality, distinguished by blue hair, is gentle, sweet, and helpful, with a pure heart and a cheerful disposition. This version is kind, polite, and willing to do household chores, often cooking and cleaning for the residents of Kame House. The other personality, which appears when she sneezes and her hair turns blonde, is aggressive, loud, and prone to criminal behavior. This version is a wanted thief and carries firearms, often using them to threaten or attack those around her. Neither personality retains any memory of what the other does while in control.

Her background begins when Goku and Krillin bring her to Master Roshi as part of their training agreement. Initially fleeing from the police after a robbery committed by her blonde persona, she is taken in and becomes a permanent resident of Kame House. Her dual nature provides a constant source of comic tension, as her friends never know when a sneeze will turn a peaceful meal into a chaotic shootout. Despite the danger, both personalities eventually become accepted members of the group, and even her aggressive side proves useful in defending Kame House from threats such as the Red Ribbon Army.

Lunch’s primary motivation shifts over time. While her kind half is content to care for her friends, her aggressive half develops a strong infatuation with Tenshinhan after watching him fight during the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. This attraction drives her to pursue him, and she follows him even after the tournament ends. In Dragon Ball Z, her role is greatly reduced. She appears in a few filler episodes: after Tenshinhan is killed by Nappa, she is shown drowning her sorrows in a bar. Later, during the final battle against Majin Buu, she contributes her energy to Goku’s Spirit Bomb in the anime adaptation. In the original manga, she disappears entirely after the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, with Krillin explaining that she went chasing after Tenshinhan and has not been seen since.

Her key relationships include Goku, Krillin, and Master Roshi, who all learn to navigate her unpredictable switches. Her bond with Tenshinhan is one-sided; he remains focused on martial arts and shows little romantic interest. According to later information, she eventually finds him but leaves after a few days because he is not interested in romance and she is unsuited for his simple agricultural lifestyle.

Notable abilities include her proficiency with firearms, particularly machine guns, which she always seems to have at hand in her blonde form. She is also a capable driver and possesses enough agility and boldness to handle herself in fights against ordinary opponents. Her sneeze-triggered transformation is involuntary and can be set off by common allergens or intentional tickling, making her extremely unpredictable in battle. Beyond this, she has no supernatural powers or ki abilities, which sets her apart from the main fighters as the series shifts toward high-stakes conflicts. Her gradual disappearance from the story marks the tonal shift from the gag-driven adventures of early Dragon Ball to the serious battles of Dragon Ball Z.
