Description
Charlotte Cracker is the tenth son and fifteenth child of the Charlotte Family, making him a member of the extensive family ruled by the Emperor of the Sea, Big Mom. He holds the position of one of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates, an elite rank that places him among the crew's three strongest fighters. Cracker also governs as the Minister of Biscuits, presiding over Biscuits Island within the archipelago of Totto Land. At forty-five years old and standing over three meters tall, his true appearance is that of a muscular man with purple hair tied in a distinctive bun, flanked by two thin strands that seem to spark like firecrackers. A large scar covers his right eye, and he typically wears only a kilt, boots, and a large pauldron with a polka-dot cape. However, this face is rarely seen because Cracker almost always conceals himself inside a powerful suit of biscuit armor created by his Devil Fruit. This armor takes the form of a much larger, brutish warrior with a long beard and horns, and it was this form that was mistakenly captured in his wanted poster, effectively hiding his true identity from the World Government.
Cracker's personality is defined by arrogance, immense pride in his family lineage, and a cunning intellect demonstrated by his long-term deception of the Marines. He is fiercely loyal to his mother, Big Mom, and the family crew, showing particular contempt for traitors or those he considers disloyal, such as his own stepfathers who are no longer considered family by blood. A firm believer that heritage defines a person, he incorrectly assumes that Sanji would happily abandon the Straw Hat Pirates for an arranged marriage, a misunderstanding that enrages Monkey D. Luffy. Confident in his own power, Cracker prefers to fight alone and dislikes interference from his siblings or subordinates. Despite his fearsome exterior and high endurance in battle, he has a notable aversion to physical pain, even fearing the prick of a needle, which is a key reason why he relies so heavily on his biscuit armor for protection. He also detests being forced to give away his biscuit creations for free, objecting when others consume them without payment.
Motivated by duty and a desire to uphold his mother's regime, Cracker is dispatched to the Seducing Woods to eliminate Luffy and prevent him from interfering with the wedding of Sanji and Pudding. His role in the story is that of a major antagonist who serves as a significant physical obstacle, testing Luffy's strength and endurance. The battle between Cracker and Luffy is grueling, lasting for eleven hours. Cracker initially overwhelms Luffy, his advanced Armament Haki being strong enough to cut Luffy's arm even while in Gear Fourth form. He creates a seemingly endless army of Biscuit Soldiers, but Nami's assistance proves crucial as her rain softens the durable biscuits, allowing Luffy to eat them continuously for energy. This strategy pushes Cracker to his limits, and Luffy ultimately defeats him using a new, bloated form of Gear Fourth called Tankman, which reflects Cracker's own attack back at him with devastating force, sending him flying into the Whole Cake Chateau.
In terms of relationships, Cracker shares a functional and loyal bond with his mother, Big Mom, who has enough confidence in his abilities to send him alone against the man who defeated Doflamingo. He gets along well with his half-sister Charlotte Brûlée, following orders to assist her even when she believes she does not need help. Conversely, he has no regard for the non-blood-related fathers of the Charlotte children, viewing them as outsiders. Within the crew, he commands significant respect and fear; his mere presence can cause Homies to wither, and subordinates like Randolph are quick to obey his commands and avoid his wrath.
Cracker exhibits notable development as an antagonist. He begins the fight arrogantly, believing Luffy has no chance, but grows increasingly stressed and frustrated as the battle drags on. He is forced to respect Luffy's unpredictability and endurance, though his defeat demonstrates the limits of his defensive fighting style. In a later supplemental story, after recovering from his injuries, Cracker is frozen solid by the former Admiral Aokiji, showing that despite his power, he is still outmatched by top-tier characters.
Cracker's notable abilities are formidable. He ate the Bisu Bisu no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to generate and control an infinite amount of biscuits. He can harden these biscuits to extreme levels, using them to create indestructible soldiers, shields, and even the armor he wears. The primary weakness of his power is water, as it softens the biscuits. He wields a massive double-edged sword named Pretzel, which he can also replicate for his biscuit soldiers. Cracker is a master of Armament Haki, capable of hardening his sword and biscuits to a degree that surpasses Luffy's Gear Fourth defenses. His bounty of 860,000,000 berries reflects the high threat level the World Government assigns to him.
