Description
Bora is a tall, muscular, and taciturn indigenous warrior who serves as the guardian of the Sacred Land of Korin, the domain surrounding the towering Karin Tower. He lives in a tepee at the base of the tower with his young son, Upa, and his family has protected this sacred area for generations. In appearance, Bora has a tan complexion, straight black hair tied in a ponytail, and a notable cross-shaped scar on the right side of his chest. He typically goes bare-chested, wearing brown trousers and shoes, with ribbons tied around his arms and a necklace made of animal tusks.

Bora is defined by his quiet strength, bravery, and deep sense of honor. He is a man of few words but resolute in his duty, putting his life on the line without hesitation to defend his homeland from intruders. Despite his ferocity as a warrior, he possesses a respectful and compassionate side; after defeating a squad of Red Ribbon Army soldiers sent to attack him, he reverently buries the fallen enemies, acknowledging them as men who died in the line of duty. His primary motivation is the protection of the sacred tower and, above all, the safety and well-being of his son, Upa, to whom he is deeply devoted.

Bora plays a significant role in the Red Ribbon Army story arc. He comes into possession of the Four-Star Dragon Ball after it falls from a volcano while he is saving Upa from the eruption. When the Red Ribbon Army sends Captain Yellow and his troops to seize the ball, Bora single-handedly defeats the soldiers, but is forced to surrender when the captain takes Upa hostage. Goku arrives in time to rescue Upa and defeat Captain Yellow, leading Bora to gratefully entrust Goku with the Dragon Ball. Bora also tells Goku about the hermit who lives atop Karin Tower, Korin, who possesses Sacred Water that can greatly increase a person's strength.

His story takes a tragic turn when the assassin Mercenary Tao arrives at the sanctuary to kill Goku. Bora courageously interferes to protect his new ally, but his strength is no match for Tao. Tao easily kills Bora by impaling him with his own spear. Bora’s death is a pivotal moment, as it drives Goku to climb Karin Tower, train under Korin, and ultimately defeat Tao. Later, Goku and Upa gather the Dragon Balls, and Upa makes the wish that brings his father back to life, making Bora the first character in the series known to be resurrected by Shenron.

Beyond his own death and revival, Bora continues to support Goku and his allies. When a severely injured Goku needs to climb Karin Tower to train for his rematch with King Piccolo, Bora uses his immense strength to hurl Yajirobe, with Goku on his back, high into the air to give them a head start on their ascent. Many years later, during the battle against the monstrous Majin Buu, an aged but still powerful Bora responds to Goku’s call for help, raising his hands to contribute his energy to the Super Spirit Bomb that finally destroys Kid Buu, finally repaying his life debt to Goku.

Bora is shown to possess superhuman physical abilities. He is immune to standard gunfire, which has no effect on his body. He demonstrates incredible strength, most notably by throwing two people hundreds of meters into the air in a single toss. In the film Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure, which adapts his story, he is a formidable martial artist capable of defeating Yamcha in a tournament match. However, despite his power, he is vastly outclassed by the elite assassin Mercenary Tao, against whom his physical prowess is completely ineffective.
