Description
Milkit is the deuteragonist of Roll Over and Die, a fourteen-year-old girl who has spent her entire life as a slave. She was born into slavery and passed between multiple owners, valued at first for her appearance until a poisoning left half her face disfigured and forced her to wear bandages. This lifelong abuse crushed her self-esteem and made her extremely withdrawn and passive; she rarely speaks unless ordered and cannot imagine herself as anything other than a disposable tool. Her personality at the start is defined by obedience and self-denial, a direct result of years of mistreatment.

Everything changes when Flum Apricot, a former member of the Hero’s party, is thrown into the same slave pen and later purchases her after discovering the power of her Reversal ability. Flum treats Milkit with unexpected kindness, and Milkit gradually comes out of her shell. She appoints herself Flum’s servant and becomes her most devoted companion, managing their daily life and providing emotional stability during their dangerous journey. Over time she grows bolder in expressing her affection, openly declaring her love for Flum and even kissing her cheek. When Flum’s life is threatened, Milkit does not hesitate to volunteer to help save her.

Milkit has no supernatural abilities; her strength lies in her loyalty, diligence, and her role as Flum’s emotional anchor. Her arc is one of healing from severe trauma: she learns to trust, begins to show her face, and gradually reclaims a sense of self-worth through the bond they share. Her primary relationship is with Flum, whom she views as her savior and later her love interest. She also serves as the heart of the small family they build together, grounding the story’s darker fantasy elements with a focus on ordinary life and recovery.
