Description
Ilulu is a female dragon who originates from the same parallel world as Tohru and Kanna, initially aligning herself with the Chaos Faction, a group of dragons who believe in destruction and oppose coexistence with humanity. Her background is marked by profound childhood trauma that directly shapes her aggressive worldview. In her youth, she was remarkably friendly towards humans and secretly played with human children, even considering a few to be her friends. This peaceful period ended catastrophically when her parents were killed in an attack by humans. Following this loss, the dragons of the Chaos Faction indoctrinated her, forcing her to discard a doll made in her likeness by her human friends and teaching her that all humans were inherently evil. This ideology became the foundation for her initial hostility, as she arrived in the human world driven by the belief that dragons and humans must not form bonds and that the relationship between Tohru and Kobayashi was a betrayal that needed to be destroyed.

In terms of personality, Ilulu demonstrates a significant evolution from a destructive antagonist to a socially awkward but emotionally honest member of Kobayashi's household. At the start, she is war-mongering and holds a psychotic disdain for humanity, acting with impulsive destructiveness. However, beneath this aggressive exterior lies a more straightforward and honest nature that emerges after her defeat and subsequent rescue. She often exhibits childlike curiosity, playing frequently with Kanna and enjoying simple activities such as napping with stray cats. While she is older than Kanna and roughly the same age as Tohru, she is noted to be less mentally mature than Tohru, often showing a childish side in her peaceful new life. Despite her wild tendencies, she possesses the wisdom to reflect on her past actions and the seriousness to compensate for her shortcomings through effort, such as learning to adapt to human society and common knowledge. A notable quirk is her initial lack of shame regarding nudity and her body, which gradually develops into more human-like modesty, particularly around her love interest, Taketo Aida.

Ilulu's motivations are rooted in a deep-seated longing for connection that conflicts with her traumatic past. While she was raised to believe humans are enemies, she always harbored a secret desire to befriend them. Her initial destructive actions are driven by the internalized belief that the only possible interaction between dragons and humans is destruction, a direct result of the trauma inflicted by the deaths of her parents and the subsequent indoctrination by the Chaos Faction. After being shown compassion by Kobayashi, who risked her life to save her from the Harmony Dragon Clemene, Ilulu's primary motivation shifts from destruction to understanding and protecting her new family. She genuinely struggles to adapt to human society and seeks purpose, ultimately finding it in a job at a candy shop run by the grandmother of Taketo Aida.

In the story, Ilulu serves as a major character whose arrival catalyzes conflict and personal growth within the established household. She first appears as an antagonist targeting Tohru for her coexistence with Kobayashi, leading to aerial battles where her power proves slightly below Tohru's. Her attempts to sabotage Kobayashi and Tohru's relationship include manipulating Kanna and using magic to temporarily transform Kobayashi into a male to provoke lustful reactions. After her defeat and rescue by Kobayashi, she moves into Kobayashi's apartment as the third dragon resident, becoming a de facto child in the family unit alongside Kanna. This transition allows the story to explore themes of healing from trauma and the challenge of reintegrating into society after being raised on hatred. Her role evolves from a force of chaos to a figure of comic relief and emotional vulnerability, often struggling with basic social interactions while seeking to protect her new loved ones.

The key relationships in Ilulu's life are central to her development. Kobayashi is the primary attachment figure who shows her that not all humans are enemies, saving her life and offering her a home. Ilulu initially misinterprets her gratitude and wishes to mate with Kobayashi before redirecting her romantic affections toward Taketo Aida. Taketo becomes her primary romantic interest, with their relationship developing from her teasing him to mutual care and emotional vulnerability, though she fears his rejection if he discovers her true identity as a dragon. Kanna Kamui becomes a peer-like friend for playful activities, and despite being older, Ilulu is treated as a peer by Kanna, which she does not mind. Elma transitions from a rival to a shopping companion, while Tohru becomes a same-aged friend and mentor figure who helps guide her adaptation to the human world, despite their initial violent conflict.

Throughout her character arc, Ilulu undergoes significant development from a hate-filled extremist to a gentle, if still unconventional, member of society. A pivotal moment occurs when Kobayashi intervenes to save her from Clemene, forcing Ilulu to confront her beliefs about humanity. Following this, she distances herself from other humans out of guilt for her past destructive intentions, but after meeting the human child Sanae Saikawa, she begins to smile genuinely again and opens up to the outside world. She eventually takes a part-time job at a candy store, where she earns the trust and friendship of Taketo through her sincere work and care for children. While she still struggles with the trauma of her past, including the forced discarding of her childhood doll, the peaceful times with Kobayashi and the children in the human world allow her to reexamine her past and even envision leaving the Chaos Faction for a peaceful life in the future. Her story is one of reconciliation with old wounds and recalibrating her concept of strength from destruction to the capacity for love and evolution.

Notable abilities of Ilulu center on fire manipulation and immense physical strength. Her primary energy source is flame, and in the human world, she can absorb energy from sources like gas stoves to recharge her power. Her primary attack method involves producing a highly destructive flame acid capable of obliterating protected areas. A unique physical trait is that her breasts function as flame sacs, visibly glowing when she prepares to use her fire powers. In terms of raw power, she is incredibly strong, capable of wounding Tohru, though she is not as powerful as either Tohru or Elma. She possesses various magical abilities, including shapeshifting between her human and dragon forms, though she initially struggles with transformations and sometimes manifests dragon-like arms or inadvertently removes all her clothes. She can also use gender transformation magic, as demonstrated when she temporarily transformed Kobayashi into a male. Her full dragon form is described as a colossal and fearsome creature with dark scales and multiple horns, though it is rarely seen in full. In her human form, she is petite, measuring approximately 130 centimeters tall, with pink eyes and pink hair styled in low curly twin tails, and she is distinguished by her disproportionately large bust which contrasts sharply with her small frame.
