Description
Nyaan is a young war refugee who serves as one of the central characters in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. A teenage girl of seventeen, she is tall and slender, with long dark hair and a slightly tanned complexion, and she is frequently seen in her work uniform carrying a large delivery bag that makes her stand out in a crowd.
Her background is marked by profound loss. When her home colony in Side 2 became a battlefield during the One Year War, she was forced to escape alone in a small petit mobile suit, with no time to check on the safety of her family. Rescued by a passing ship, she was brought to the Izuma colony in Side 6, where she has since lived as a displaced person. To support herself in this new environment, she works as an illegal courier, disguising her smuggling activities as a food delivery service.
Nyaan's personality is shaped by her difficult circumstances. Although she can appear cool and composed at first glance, she is in truth timid and cautious, prone to hiding behind others and hesitating in unfamiliar situations. Her highest priority is her own survival, a mindset forged by losing everything in wartime. Beneath her guarded exterior, however, she is more expressive than she first seems, and she quietly longs for genuine peace and a future of her own, even if she struggles to believe such things are possible.
Her motivations center on staying alive and securing stability in a world that has already taken so much from her. Over time, her bond with the protagonist Amate Yuzuriha, known as Machu, gradually opens her up to the possibility of trusting others and fighting for something beyond mere survival. Nyaan serves as the deuteragonist of the series, and her chance collision with Machu while fleeing from the police sets the main events of the story in motion by placing an illegal mobile suit device in Machu's hands. She later becomes involved with the underground Clan Battle duels through the Pomeranians, the mechanics' team operating out of the Kaneban Company.
When Machu is unable to take part in a crucial battle, Nyaan steps in as a substitute pilot of the GQuuuuuuX and, during the fight, activates its Omega Psycommu system, revealing herself to be a powerful Newtype with considerable piloting skill that rivals or even exceeds Machu's own. Her aptitude draws the attention of Kycilia Zabi, who recognizes her potential and takes her under her protection as the pilot of the GFreD, the second unit in the GQuuuuuuX line. Nyaan is later entrusted with a special mission at the facility known as Iomagnusso, where her abilities are demonstrated on a far larger stage, and her actions carry serious consequences for the conflict unfolding around her.
