Description
Inca Kasugatani is a teenage pyrokinetic who initially operates as a notorious fire thief, known for rescuing people from blazes only to demand their valuables in return. She is also identified as the Fifth Pillar, an individual who possesses the rare and powerful Adolla Burst.

She is a young woman of sixteen with short pink hair and pink eyes. Two years before the main events of the story, Inca was caught in the Great Fire of Tokyo. Before this disaster, she had little purpose in life, but while surrounded by the flames and witnessing the destruction, she felt a strong, exhilarating desire to live. This traumatic event awakened her unique abilities, but it also fundamentally warped her psyche. Since then, she has become obsessed with danger and the sensation of cheating death. She claims to only feel truly alive when in life-threatening peril and despises the idea of a peaceful, predictable, or boring existence.

Inca’s personality is defined by this thrill-seeking nature. She is extremely self-centered, placing her own freedom and excitement above all else, including the safety of others. She has an inflated sense of destiny, largely due to her powers, which makes her believe she is invincible and absolves her of responsibility for her choices. While she will save people from fires, she justifies her extortion by saying that their lives are more valuable than possessions. However, her selfishness runs deep; she is willing to betray or even harm close friends if they try to control her choices or get in the way of her pursuit of danger.

Her role in the story begins as an independent agent operating with two companions, Panda and Sancho. However, her status as a Pillar makes her a target for both the Evangelist's organization, the White-Clad, who seek to use her power for their goals, and Special Fire Force Company 8, who wish to protect her from the Evangelist. When the White-Clad move to claim her, she rejects the protection offered by Shinra Kusakabe and Company 8. She concludes that a life of safety would be unbearably boring and instead willingly joins the White-Clad, excited by the prospect of constant danger and of having Shinra as an enemy rather than a protector.

Her key relationships are largely defined by her selfish nature. She initially works with Panda and Sancho using them as accomplices in her schemes, but she ultimately abandons them without hesitation when it serves her purpose. Her dynamic with Shinra Kusakabe is central to her development. While he tries to save her, she is more intrigued by the thrilling chase and conflict he represents. In a later development, after being reborn in a new reality, she expresses a twisted form of gratitude towards Shinra, seeking to have his child to carry on her chaotic legacy, though he refuses. This version of the character evolves into one of the first witches in the new world, using her powers to summon monsters and extort the hero.

Inca’s abilities are unique and do not fit neatly into standard classifications, leading her to call herself a Fourth Generation. Her primary and most consistent ability is to sense the pathway that heat and flames will take, which manifests to her as glowing lines and a distinct smell. This predictive power allows her to easily navigate burning buildings, find safe escape routes, and foresee where explosions will occur. After awakening her full ignition ability as a Pillar, her power evolves. She begins to see specific lines marked with START and GOAL. By tracing these lines with her finger or body, she can cause an explosion to occur at the goal point. This effectively allows her to turn her precognitive gift into an offensive weapon, creating controlled explosions along the paths she perceives. Her eyes also change when using this power, with a pink glow and patterns resembling cherry blossom stamens appearing around her pupils.
