Description
Kazuha Tōyama is a 17-year-old high school student from Osaka and a main character in the twenty-seventh film of the series. She travels to Hakodate, Hokkaido, alongside Conan Edogawa and Ran Mōri to support her childhood friend Heiji Hattori, who is participating in a kendo tournament there. Her visit coincides with a public notice from the phantom thief Kaito Kid, which draws her group into the larger mystery surrounding the theft of two swords and a hidden treasure.

As the daughter of a high-ranking police officer, Kazuha has a close connection to law enforcement, and her family has a long-standing professional and personal relationship with Heiji’s family. She has known Heiji since early childhood, and a memorable incident from their youth, in which they were accidentally locked together with a pair of old handcuffs, created a strong, lasting bond between them. As a memento of that event and as a good luck charm, she made two matching omamori charms containing a link from the handcuffs, which both she and Heiji continue to carry.

Kazuha is characterized by a spirited, hot-tempered, and tomboyish personality. She is not afraid to be confrontational, often engaging in shouting matches with Heiji, but this same honesty allows her to form genuine friendships, most notably with Ran Mōri. Despite her fiery exterior, she is deeply caring and has a strong, though not always openly expressed, romantic affection for Heiji. She is also prone to a keen belief in superstitions, good-luck charms, and spiritual phenomena, frequently attributing strange occurrences to ghosts or malignant spirits.

In the story of The Million-dollar Pentagram, her primary motivation is to support Heiji in his kendo tournament. However, she is unaware that a significant subplot involves Heiji searching for the perfect scenic spot to finally confess his feelings to her. Kazuha also encounters a university student named Hijiri Fukushiro at the tournament venue, which introduces a new element into the narrative. Her role is further complicated by the presence of Momiji Ōoka, her acknowledged love rival who also has feelings for Heiji and travels to Hokkaido to interfere with his plans.

Her key relationships are central to her character. Her dynamic with Heiji Hattori is a blend of bickering, deep-seated care, and romantic tension. She has a close and supportive friendship with Ran Mōri, with whom she shares her feelings and concerns about her relationship with Heiji. While she is often portrayed as hot-headed, she has demonstrated a notable level of intelligence, at times able to deduce clues and dying messages quickly. Her protective nature is particularly evident in her reliance on the lucky charm she made for Heiji, which has proven to be a literal life-saving object, and she is extremely wary of any other girls showing an interest in him.
