Description
Usagi Tsukino is a Japanese schoolgirl, initially portrayed as a carefree and somewhat clumsy 14-year-old with blonde hair styled in distinctive odango buns and blue eyes. Her surname "Tsukino Usagi" (meaning "Rabbit of the Moon" from an Asian folktale and "wild rabbit") reflects her energetic nature. She lives in Tokyo's Azabu Juban district with her parents, Ikuko and Kenji Tsukino, and younger brother Shingo. Academically challenged, particularly in mathematics and English where she often scores below 30 on tests, Usagi dislikes studying, carrots, and visiting dentists. She enjoys sweets, video games, manga, and dreams of becoming a bride.

Her life transforms when she meets Luna, a black cat bearing a crescent moon on its forehead, who reveals Usagi's destiny as Sailor Moon, the Guardian of Love and Justice. Luna provides a magical brooch enabling her transformation with the phrase "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!". As Sailor Moon, she leads a team of Sailor Guardians to protect Earth from evil forces, using attacks like the "Moon Tiara Boomerang" and later the "Moon Healing Escalation". Her powers evolve through distinct forms:
- **Moon Crystal Power** (via the Crystal Star brooch) grants healing abilities and the "Moon Princess Halation" attack.
- **Moon Cosmic Power** (via the Cosmic Heart Compact) enables the "Moon Spiral Heart Attack".
- **Super Sailor Moon** (via the Holy Grail) utilizes the "Rainbow Moon Heart Ache".
- **Eternal Sailor Moon** (via the Eternal Moon Article) represents her peak power, featuring angelic wings and the universal healing attack "Starlight Honeymoon Therapy Kiss".

A central revelation identifies Usagi as the reincarnation of Princess Serenity, the former heir to the Moon Kingdom's throne. Her past life involved a forbidden romance with Prince Endymion (Mamoru Chiba's past incarnation), ending tragically during the Moon Kingdom's destruction. This connection manifests in the present through her relationship with Mamoru, initially contentious but deepening into romance after recognizing their shared past. Their bond proves pivotal, enabling power enhancements like the Cosmic Heart Compact born from their combined energy. They eventually marry and have a future daughter, Chibiusa, who travels back in time to train alongside Usagi.

Usagi's future self is Neo-Queen Serenity, ruler of 30th-century Crystal Tokyo. This role diminishes her Sailor Guardian abilities but leverages the Silver Crystal's power to maintain youth and peace. Her most distant future iteration is Sailor Cosmos, a form originating from a lost galactic war who returns to guide Eternal Sailor Moon.

Personality-wise, Usagi begins as an immature crybaby, often reliant on Luna or fellow Guardians. However, her core kindness—exemplified by defending Luna from tormentors—drives her growth. She prioritizes protecting others, even enemies, refusing to kill possessed humans and seeking redemption for antagonists. Over time, she develops resilience and leadership, though retains traits like gluttony and emotional outbursts. Her relationships extend beyond Mamoru to deep friendships with fellow Sailor Guardians, particularly Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury) and Rei Hino (Sailor Mars), despite occasional clashes over her laziness.
