Hackmon acts as messenger and agent for Homeostasis, dedicated to preserving equilibrium between the Human and Digital Worlds. His core mission focuses on monitoring Meicoomon, designated the "Libra," due to her volatile power and latent connection to Apocalymon's data—a link posing catastrophic risk if unchecked. This surveillance entails tracking Meicoomon's movements within the Human World, observing her interactions with the DigiDestined, and reporting her status directly to Homeostasis.
Throughout numerous incidents, Hackman maintains a passive observer role unless explicitly commanded to intervene. He witnesses Alphamon's assault on Meicoomon, overhears Leomon's discussions with the DigiDestined regarding the infection, and monitors Meicoomon during the Tsukishima High School cultural festival. When Meicoomon vanishes after turning feral, Hackman shifts to active pursuit, ultimately deducing her likely absence from the Digital World while pledging to continue the search.
As the crisis intensifies, Hackmon assumes the position of Homeostasis's envoy to humanity, filling the void left by the missing Gennai. He discloses crucial intelligence to Daigo Nishijima, revealing Maki Himekawa's alliance with King Drasil and her culpability for the Digital World Reboot. Hackmon warns that Meicoomon's power, if harnessed by malevolent forces, threatens both worlds' annihilation, stressing that only her bond with her partner, Meiko Mochizuki, restrains her destructive potential.
When the DigiDestined fail to contain the threat, Homeostasis commands Meicoomon's elimination. Hackmon confronts her in his evolved Mega form, Jesmon, launching an attack in Tokyo. This intervention, however, inadvertently terrifies Meicoomon, triggering her further evolution into Raguelmon and subsequently Ordinemon. As Jesmon, he engages in extended battles against Raguelmon, Alphamon, and the DigiDestined's Digimon, striving to fulfill his mission amidst escalating complications. During combat, he employs techniques like "Un Pour Tous," a beam fired from a triangular shield formed by his components At, Rene, and Pol.
In the final conflict, Hackmon (as Jesmon) informs Meiko's father of Ordinemon's emergence and the imminent crisis. He later conveys Homeostasis's contingency plan to the DigiDestined: a reboot of all Human World digital technology to halt Ordinemon, an action that would simultaneously cripple human infrastructure.
Hackmon's digivolution line progresses from Rookie (Hackmon) to Champion (BaoHuckmon), Ultimate (SaviorHuckmon), and Mega (Jesmon). This capacity to evolve and revert without a human partner distinguishes him among Digimon. His digivolutions are documented in media such as the Digivice Ver.15th and Digivice Ver.Complete.
