Description
JD, an alias adopted by a rebel fighter in the Eastern Slav Republic, grew up alongside lifelong companions Buddy and Irina. His true identity remains concealed, a choice he openly acknowledges. Driven by loyalty rather than ideology, he joined the resistance with Buddy after government airstrikes destroyed a school where Buddy taught and Irina perished.

Known for his chaotic energy and dark humor, JD fixates on American pop culture, swapping jokes about Hollywood films, fast food, and his prized collection of legitimate DVDs—quirks that clash with the war’s brutality. His sharp instincts surface when he survives a raid by commandeering Leon S. Kennedy’s bulletproof vest after a gunshot strikes him mid-banter about American snacks.

Combat strains JD’s resolve. He balks at shooting infected allies like his former mentor Mr. Chenkov, nearly dying during indecisive standoffs. Even Leon’s tactical advice to aim for the head fails to steady his hesitant trigger finger. Clumsy escapes through tight spaces further expose his vulnerability, grounding him in relatable imperfection.

JD’s allegiance to Buddy defines his path. Discovering the regime’s use of mind-controlling Plaga parasites, he betrays rebel secrets to Leon, begging him to prevent Buddy from obtaining a Dominant Species Plaga—terrified of losing his friend to the parasite’s corruption.

In the end, JD falls defending a rebel church, Plaga mutations ravaging his body. Retaining fleeting lucidity, he returns Leon’s vest and exchanges a fist-bump, acknowledging their fraught partnership. As the parasite erupts, he lunges at Buddy, only to be stopped by Leon’s bullet. His final words reject revolutionary fervor, confessing he fought not for ideals but to share moments with those he loved. The Plaga’s emergence from his corpse seals a journey shaped by loyalty, reluctant violence, and the cost of camaraderie in chaos.
