OVA
Description
Soma Asman Kadar, Prince of Bengal and twenty-sixth child of the Raja, endured profound loneliness during a childhood marked by parental neglect. He found companionship primarily with his maidservant Mina, who became an older sister figure. His early personality manifested as selfish, childish, and naive; he habitually blamed others for his troubles and avoided confronting emotional issues, even when aware of Agni's distress. This self-absorption was evident when he demanded Ciel Phantomhive's help finding Mina without regard for others' obligations.

His journey to England with his butler Agni – formerly the condemned criminal Arshad, whom Soma saved and renamed – initiated his development. An impulsive confrontation with Ciel and Sebastian in London's East End, driven by loyalty to countrymen, ended when their aggression proved unjustified. Inviting himself into Ciel's townhouse as a self-proclaimed "benefactor," Soma persistently disrupted the household searching for Mina. A fencing duel with Ciel exposed his reliance on Agni's protection, inadvertently causing Ciel injury. Harsh criticism from Ciel about his helplessness and Sebastian's condemnation of his spoiled behavior acted as catalysts for change. Witnessing Mina reject him for his past selfishness further humbled him, prompting sincere apologies and a resolve to earn his keep by managing Ciel's townhouse.

During this period, Soma cultivated generosity, regularly distributing curry buns to the poor alongside Agni. He developed genuine concern for others, nursing Ciel through illness during the Circus Arc and later joining the "Funtom Five" performance group to assist Ciel's investigations. He openly acknowledged Agni as his irreplaceable companion. This growth shattered tragically during the Blue Cult Arc when Soma encountered Ciel's twin brother ("Real Ciel") at the townhouse. Mistaking the twin for Ciel, Soma welcomed him inside. Sensing something amiss, Soma attempted physical contact, triggering a violent reaction; the traumatized twin shot at him. Agni shielded Soma, sacrificing his life to stop the attack. Witnessing Agni's murder and later seeing thugs steal from a starving child he tried to help plunged Soma into profound disillusionment with humanity. He abandoned his charitable work, becoming solely focused on avenging Agni, even if it meant forsaking "salvation."

In the "Book of Murder" OVA (adapting the Phantomhive Manor Murders Arc), set before Agni's death, Soma and Agni are shown at Ciel's London townhouse during the deadly banquet at the Phantomhive Manor. Soma expresses visible concern for Ciel's well-being amidst stormy weather and ominous events, staring anxiously out a window. Agni reassures him by emphasizing Sebastian's capability, highlighting Soma's persistent care for his friend.

Following Agni's death, Soma transformed starkly. Consumed by grief and rage, he fixated on vengeance against Real Ciel and his associates. He survived subsequent arcs like the Public School Arc and Emerald Witch Arc, aiding Ciel's investigations when needed, but his primary drive remained avenging Agni. Observers noted his insight into Ciel's psychological state, recognizing Ciel's terror of happiness stemming from survivor's guilt and his demonic contract. Soma emerged as a hardened figure, isolated by loss and single-mindedly dedicated to retribution, a stark contrast to his former self.
