Description
Hana "Alpha" Astin served as gravekeeper for a remote village until her death. Gravekeepers typically manifest as adults without human parentage, though her specific origins remain unrecorded. She developed a romantic relationship with Kizuna Astin, also called Hampnie Hambart, sharing roughly half a year together. After conceiving their child, Ai Astin, she departed from Hampnie without disclosing her pregnancy under unclear circumstances.

Hana raised Ai alone in the village, exhibiting a bright, honest, and stubborn demeanor. Accounts describe her as gluttonous, fond of sweets, and prone to frequent laughter. She demonstrated poor cooking skills but maintained proficiency in cleaning and detested cigarette smoke. Physically, she possessed light-brown hair, distinctive green eyes—later inherited by Ai—a tall stature, and a well-defined face.

Following God's abandonment of the world—which halted human reproduction and triggered an undead pandemic—the village perished. As gravekeeper, Hana should have buried the dead to grant eternal rest. Instead, she orchestrated a deception where reanimated villagers concealed their condition to "live" normally and help raise Ai. She appointed Ai as her successor before her own death, the cause of which remains undisclosed. Her grave lies in the village cemetery.

Hana's legacy persisted posthumously. The villagers sustained the deception for years, displaying prolonged undead lucidity contrary to typical deterioration patterns. This influenced both Ai's worldview and Hampnie’s later actions. Upon encountering Ai, Hampnie recognized Hana as "Alpha" through Ai’s physical resemblance, particularly their shared green eyes. Hampnie’s eventual burial beside Hana fulfilled his desire for a peaceful death surrounded by familial bonds.
