Description
Ulla Eulesse Hecmatika is the Princess of Ortus, a city solely for the deceased. Born fifteen years ago alongside her twin sister Celica Hecmatika, she inherited a devastating power from her mother's dying wish for all humans to perish. Unknowingly accepting this wish in the womb granted Ulla the ability to inflict instant death through eye contact, physical touch, or vocal communication. Celica rejected the wish and remains an infant, frozen in time.

Ulla possesses the appearance of a fifteen-year-old with pale skin, jet-black hair, and yellowish-green eyes marked by double black rings in the irises. She maintains a petite, slender frame. Constantly, she wears a leather blindfold over her eyes and a gag secured by bandages over her mouth. Her attire is a layered dark blue and light blue long dress, held by leather straps, covering a sleeveless underdress. A red flower accessory adorns the right side of her head, and she wears black high-heeled shoes and gloves over her covered hands.

These extensive coverings are essential: her gaze kills anyone she looks upon, her touch causes immediate death, and her voice proves fatal to listeners. Ortus authorities, including her caretaker Kiriko Zubreska, concealed the lethal truth of her abilities, claiming the coverings protected her "noble personage" from common people. Ulla gradually sensed her eyes affected others but remained unaware she caused death until Ai Astin revealed her identity as the "Idol of Murder".

Within Ortus, Ulla performs ceremonial duties to "accept" living humans seeking permanent residency. As Ortus forbids living residents, applicants must undergo death through her powers. During these ceremonies, her blindfold, gag, and outer dress straps are removed. Witnesses describe the deceased as appearing peaceful, relieved, or smiling afterward, though Ulla struggles to comprehend whether her role constitutes evil.

Her primary relationship centers on Kiriko, who acts as her teacher, caretaker, spokesperson, and close companion since childhood. Despite his ongoing deception about her abilities, she expresses deep affection for him, stating she cherishes Ortus because he resides there. She communicates through writing on a notepad or tracing words on Kiriko's body when he is not acting as her interpreter. Her friendship with Ai Astin represents her first meaningful bond with another female, though she laments her inability to look at or embrace Ai without causing harm.

Ulla exhibits a kind, playful, and compassionate personality, sensitive to others' emotions. She consciously avoided questioning the secrets surrounding her power out of respect for her caretakers' intentions. Unlike Ai, who rebelled against deception, Ulla accepts her confined existence, valuing Ortus as home and sanctuary because it includes Kiriko. Her character arc reflects internal conflict regarding her purpose, witnessing the willing deaths she causes while remaining uncertain about her moral standing in a world without God.
