Description
Inori Yamabuki, often called by the nickname Buki by her close friends, is a 14-year-old girl who attends the Christian Private White Clover Academy. She is a kind and gentle soul whose deep love for animals shapes many of her life's ambitions. Coming from a family of veterinarians, with her parents running a local animal clinic, Inori aspires to follow in their footsteps and become a veterinarian herself. Her connection to animals is so profound that her partner fairy, Kirun, grants her the ability to understand and communicate with them.
Among her fellow Pretty Cures, Inori stands out for her calm, reserved, and shy personality, which contrasts sharply with the passionate and sometimes reckless nature of Love Momozono and the fashionable confidence of Miki Aono. Despite her intelligence and good grades, she often lacks self-esteem and worries excessively about how she might appear to others. This deep-seated insecurity makes her prone to embarrassment and leads her to avoid disputes whenever possible. However, beneath this quiet exterior lies a sharp and quick-witted individual who becomes fiercely protective of her friends and family when they are in danger. Her defining catchphrase, "I have faith in myself," reflects her constant, gentle struggle to overcome her own self-doubt.
Inori’s journey toward self-improvement begins when her friends Love and Miki invite her to form the dance group Clover. Initially too shy to accept, she eventually joins as a way to challenge herself and build confidence. It is her compassionate nature that directly leads to her becoming a Pretty Cure. When a dog named Lucky, who is under her care, is turned into a monster called a Nakewameke by the villains of Labyrinth, Inori’s desperate wish to protect him awakens the power within her Linkrun. This event allows her to transform into Cure Pine, the Pretty Cure of Faith, whose theme color is yellow and whose symbol is the diamond. Her transformation call is "Change, Pretty Cure! Beat up!" and she introduces herself with, "The yellow heart is the symbol of prayers! Freshly-harvested, Cure Pine!".
Cure Pine’s abilities are heavily tied to her theme of prayer and healing. Her primary solo attack is Healing Prayer, where she forms a diamond shape with her hands and releases a beam of yellow energy to purify her enemies. Later, after receiving the Pine Flute, a type of Cure Stick, her attack is upgraded to Healing Prayer Fresh, which she performs by playing the flute to create a powerful, diamond-shaped energy field. As part of a team, she can combine her powers with Cure Peach and Cure Berry to perform Triple Fresh, and with the full group, she helps execute the powerful finishing move Lucky Clover Grand Finale. At the series' climax, her power evolves further, allowing her to achieve a form known as Cure Angel.
Key relationships play a crucial role in her development. Her friendships with Love and Miki are foundational, providing her with a supportive social circle that encourages her to step out of her shell. A significant part of her growth involves overcoming a specific fear. In her childhood, Inori was bitten by a ferret, leaving her with a phobia of the animal, which becomes complicated because one of the fairy mascots, Tarte, is a ferret-like creature. Through a body-swapping incident, she is forced to experience life from Tarte’s perspective, which helps her conquer her fear and form a much closer bond with him. She also plays a key role in welcoming Setsuna Higashi, who was once the enemy Eas, into the group. Inori relates to Setsuna’s feelings of being an outsider and gently persuades her to join the dance group Clover, helping to integrate her into the team through the joy of dancing.
