Description
Gabiru is the son of Abiru, chieftain of the Lizardmen tribe inhabiting the marshes of the Great Jura Forest. Initially appearing as a green-scaled anthropomorphic lizard, he wore distinctive armor featuring a cape, baggy pants, and a furry neck warmer. As the tribe's first named warrior, he displayed pronounced overconfidence and ego, fueled by constant subordinate praise and susceptibility to manipulation. This led him to instigate a rebellion against his father under Gelmud's influence, believing he alone could save the lizardmen from the Orc Lord threat. His actions endangered the tribe, resulting in his exile; his loyal followers and younger sister Souka chose to accompany him.

Following exile, Gabiru's group sought refuge in Rimuru Tempest's burgeoning nation. After pledging allegiance, Rimuru renamed him and his followers, triggering their evolution into Dragonewts. This transformation altered Gabiru physically: his scales shifted from greenish-black to purple, he developed dragon-like wings and larger horns, and his overall stature became more robust. He later achieved a True Dragonewt state via Rimuru's Harvest Festival ritual, gaining reddish scales and additional horns. This evolution marked his journey from disgraced prince to integrated member of Tempest's society.

Gabiru's personality underwent significant change. Humbled by his rebellion's consequences and Gelmud's betrayal, he accepted full responsibility for his actions during the Orc Lord crisis, willingly facing execution while pleading for his men's safety. In Tempest, his ego diminished, replaced by earnest dedication to self-improvement and loyalty. He cultivated a knightly demeanor, treating allies and opponents with respect while shedding earlier racial prejudices. Though retaining exuberant quirks like dramatic entrances and comedic overenthusiasm, he became cooler-headed and more open-minded, a shift noted by his father during visits.

Within the Jura-Tempest Federation, Gabiru holds multiple roles. He captains the Hiryuu, Tempest's primary aerial attack force, commanding dragonnewt warriors and wyverns. He also serves as one of Rimuru's Twelve Guardian Lords, an elite protector group. Additionally, he works in the research department alongside Vesta, contributing significantly to developing Hipokute herbs and healing potions. His leadership extends beyond combat to coordinating tactical operations and participating in diplomatic and economic initiatives.

Gabiru's combat abilities evolved substantially. From an initially capable but inexperienced commander, he gained strategic acumen recognized by Rimuru. After renaming, he attained Special A Rank power. His signature weapon is the Vortex Spear. He possesses the Unique Skill "Showoff," enabling limited fate manipulation once daily, and can activate a Dragon Warrior Form for enhanced strength, defense, and regeneration. As a True Dragonewt, he awakened the Ultimate Gift "King of Moods," granting abilities like accelerated thought processing, space manipulation, multi-layered barriers, and control over unforeseen events. His energy levels exceed 1,000,000 EP when wielding the Vortex Spear.

Key relationships define his journey. His sister Souka maintains a close yet supervisory bond, often mitigating his impulsiveness. His followers demonstrate unwavering loyalty. He respects Rimuru profoundly for granting redemption and opportunities, collaborating closely with allies like Vesta. His father Abiru, while enforcing exile, implicitly intended it as a path to maturity, later expressing pride in Gabiru's transformation.

Notable trivia includes his ability to conceal wings despite his dragonewt form, a comedic tendency to forget using them mid-battle, and an interdimensional connection humorously suggested due to shared voice acting in crossover media. His near-self-proclamation as a "hero" in a spin-off incident nearly provoked conflict with the demon lord Milim.
