Description
Hakurou, originally an unnamed Ogre, served as the martial instructor and strongest swordsman within the Ogre Tribe's royal guard. Defying the typical Ogre lifespan of around 100 years, he survived for over 300 years, during which he trained Gazel Dwargo, the king of the Dwarves. He is the grandson of the master swordsman Byakuya Araki.
Following the destruction of his village, Hakurou became one of six surviving Ogres who encountered Rimuru Tempest. After forming an alliance and Rimuru's subsequent victory over the Orc Lord, Hakurou pledged loyalty. Receiving the name "Hakurou" from Rimuru triggered his evolution into a Kijin, transforming his appearance from an elderly Ogre with silver-tinted skin and ivory horns into a middle-aged man in his physical prime, featuring sharper features and a silver goatee. This evolution also extended his lifespan.
Hakurou possesses a calm and analytical personality but reacts sharply to being called "old man," often responding with threats of increased training or death. He serves as the Chief Instructor of Tempest's military and an executive, rigorously training warriors, including Rimuru and Gobta, whose latent talent he recognized. He emphasizes mastering martial arts over relying solely on innate Skills, believing monsters over-depend on such abilities. After discovering he has a daughter, he becomes overprotective and encourages her pursuit of Benimaru's affection.
As a swordsman, Hakurou prioritizes technique over physical prowess. His magical energy ranks at A-Rank, but his combat proficiency reaches Disaster-Rank due to his mastery of swordsmanship and Arts.
