Description
Lizzie Garland is the personal bodyguard and childhood friend of Claudia McCunnen, a high-ranking Inferno executive. Their lifelong bond fosters absolute trust, leading Claudia to choose Lizzie as her sole protector over standard multiple guards. Lizzie exhibits exceptional firearm proficiency and commands Inferno's shock troops during critical operations like security details or missions.
Her personality combines fierce loyalty with a notably volatile temperament; she is quick to anger and often expresses herself loudly when provoked. Despite this, her dedication to Claudia remains unwavering. Following episode 10, Lizzie becomes the new partner to Zwei (Reiji Azuma), who becomes Phantom after Ein's disappearance. She develops a genuine fondness for Zwei and later aids him in retrieving Cal Devens from Bloodies territory.
After Zwei departs Inferno, Lizzie is partnered with Drei (Cal Devens), the next Phantom. Lizzie intends to honor Zwei's wish to shield Cal from becoming an assassin, but Cal actively chooses to stay with Inferno to pursue vengeance against Zwei. This conflict culminates when Cal kidnaps Mio Fujieda in Japan. Lizzie confronts Cal to stop her, resulting in a fatal standoff involving a game with a pocket watch. Hesitating to shoot someone closely connected to both herself and Zwei, Lizzie is shot and killed by Cal.
Physically, Lizzie has dark skin, dark brown eyes, and ear-length dark brown hair. Her attire includes gold earrings, a white necklace, a black and red jacket, a midriff-baring white top, a brown belt, black jeans, and black boots. Earlier portrayals (original visual novel, OVA) feature a less conventionally attractive design, while later adaptations present a more refined aesthetic. Her demeanor consistently carries an element of mystery. Lizzie Garland's storyline concludes with her death during the confrontation with Cal Devens in Japan.
