Description
Mark Evans (Endou Mamoru in Japanese media) is the central protagonist of the Inazuma Eleven franchise. Beginning as captain and goalkeeper of the undermanned Raimon Junior High soccer team, initially fielding only seven members, his deep passion for soccer stems from studying and adapting techniques from his grandfather Daisuke Endou's journals. When the dominant Royal Academy (Teikoku Gakuen) threatens Raimon with disbandment, he recruits new players to form a full squad, demonstrating relentless determination despite teammates' early pessimism.

His exceptional leadership unites the team through unwavering spirit and prioritizing collective strength over individual skill. Key goalkeeping techniques derived from his grandfather's journals include God Hand, Majin the Hand, and Omega the Hand. God Hand first counters Royal Academy's Death Zone; Omega the Hand debuts against the Ogre team in the movie. His evolution later includes mastering advanced moves like Hammer of Fury and Dimensional Hand.

Personal motivations emerge, such as discovering Gouenji's withdrawal from soccer links to his sister Julia's coma following an accident. This insight fosters empathy, though he respects Gouenji's choice to delay joining the team, focusing instead on strengthening Raimon's existing members. His emotional intelligence detects and addresses teammates' struggles, building trust and camaraderie.

A decade later in the GO era, he becomes coach of Raimon's soccer club. His passion for soccer remains undimmed, but his demeanor grows calmer and more strategic. He opposes the authoritarian Fifth Sector's control, advocating for creative, joyful play. As coach, he balances kindness with rigorous training, notably encouraging Shinsuke to master the Buttobi Jump technique. His enduring significance is highlighted when El Dorado traps him in a Chrono Stone during the Chrono Stone arc.

Appearance-wise, he sports short, spiked brown hair, a signature orange headband, and tanned skin. As an adult, his hair lengthens slightly; his consistent wardrobe features an orange-collared shirt, white jacket, and dark jeans. Personality-wise, he embodies optimism, resilience, and a "never-give-up" attitude, attracting allies and former rivals through authenticity. He prioritizes team morale even in defeat. His mature self retains a more measured approach while steadfastly believing in soccer's unifying power.
