TV Special
Description
Robin Mask debuted as a recurring antagonist, representing England as the reigning champion during the Kinnikuman series' 20th Chojin Olympics. His initial defeat by Kinnikuman resulted in banishment from England, fueling a vengeful crusade where he joined the World Supermen Federation as a brutal wrestler. He orchestrated a rigged rematch above the Grand Canyon; when a plane was directed at the ring, he sacrificed himself to save Kinnikuman, seemingly falling to his death.
Robin Mask survived the Grand Canyon incident, though severe injuries temporarily ended his wrestling career. Traveling globally under the alias Mr. Barracuda, he sought a student for vengeance. In Russia, he discovered and harshly trained Warsman, chaining him and forcing fights against death row inmates. This mentorship forged a close bond, leading them to form the "Chojin Master/Student Combo" tag team. After Warsman defied his orders against Kinnikuman, Robin Mask abandoned villainy and fully rejoined the Justice Chojin.
As a Justice Chojin, Robin Mask became a strategic leader and respected mentor. His tactical acumen saw him coach Warsman and later lead Team Kinnikuman during the Survivor Match for the Kinniku Throne Arc. He maintained complex relationships, particularly with his son Kevin Mask, who resented Robin's strict upbringing and initially joined the d.M.p to spite him. Their relationship improved, with Kevin eventually acknowledging his father's guidance. Robin Mask married Alisa Mackintosh, navigating anti-chojin sentiments from both families; he briefly relinquished his chojin powers for their union before reclaiming them to protect humanity.
In combat, Robin Mask wears knight-style armor—initially sapphire, later steel—that deliberately restrains his full strength for fair matches. His abilities encompass superhuman strength, flight, and size manipulation. He wields the Anoalo Staff for fire manipulation and employs techniques like Robin's Ice Rock Gyro. His signature move is the Pallo Special, a secret finisher later learned by Warsman during training. Without his armor, his speed increases dramatically, making him difficult to counter.
His character experiences multiple deaths and resurrections, including apparent demises during the Grand Canyon incident and the Seven Devil Chojin Arc, underscoring his resilience and recurring narrative role. Physically, he is depicted as pale with blond or brown hair, thick eyebrows, and red eyes visible through his mask; his armor features red accents over bare skin or a blue undersuit in earlier anime adaptations.
Robin Mask's development spans fickle motivations to unwavering loyalty, embodying themes of redemption and mentorship. His background includes stealing the Anoalo Staff in youth—resulting in its theft by George the Thief—and excelling as a rugby captain at Oxford University. His favorite book is "The Tale of Genji," and his favorite word is "Love."
