When mercenaries destroy their shrine in a coup attempt, Uraha escapes with Kanna and the samurai Ryuya. Their quest focuses on finding Kanna’s mother, Yao Bikuni, imprisoned at a Buddhist shrine. After a violent confrontation there kills Yao and triggers Kanna’s banishment into an eternal nightmare through a Buddhist curse, Uraha and Ryuya journey together. Learning the curse requires centuries to break, Uraha devises a generational strategy: bearing Ryuya’s child so descendants can continue Kanna’s rescue.
