Description
Akru is the biological son of Alexander and Luri and the biological brother of Sura. He is also the adoptive brother of Mowgli, raised alongside him after his parents took the man-cub into their family when Akru and Sura were young pups. Akru matured into a fully adult wolf within the Seeonee pack, distinguished by dark brown fur on top and light brown fur underneath.
He possesses a brash, rebellious, and rash personality, often acting impulsively without careful thought. Akru is hot-headed and prone to leaping before looking. Despite this impulsiveness, he exhibits fierce loyalty towards his brothers, Mowgli and Sura, and deep respect for his mother, Luri. He fiercely protects Mowgli and demonstrates kindness, though his words can be rough or insensitive, as seen when he defended Mowgli’s innocence after Sura’s injury.
A significant event shapes Akru when his competitive nature during a buffalo hunt leads him to break a jungle law, resulting in serious injuries. This transgression causes the wolf pack to shun him, with some advocating leaving him to die. Mowgli opposes this and risks banishment to find a healing flower, successfully treating Akru’s wounds and securing his recovery and eventual forgiveness by the pack, allowing reintegration.
Akru’s relationships define him. His bond with Sura is close, with Sura’s calm nature often balancing Akru’s impulsiveness. He respects his mother, Luri, who recognizes his fighting skills and rash tendencies, considering them in her leadership. Later, Akru forms a romantic relationship with Maki, a female wolf known for her singing ability; their dynamic is positive, with Maki giving him singing lessons.
Within the pack, Akru serves as a loyal member under leaders Akela and later Luri, participating in hunts and defenses, though his brashness sometimes sparks conflict. After Alexander’s death, the family remains close, with Akru supporting his mother and siblings. By the series end, Sura becomes a father, making Akru an uncle to two cubs. His background story is tied exclusively to the events of the anime series.
