Description
Meyrin Hawke appears across multiple Gundam SEED media, including anime series, films, and spin-offs. A Coordinator born in the PLANT colonies alongside her older sister Lunamaria Hawke, both sisters joined ZAFT. Meyrin served as a communications controller (CIC officer) on the battleship Minerva, supervising mobile suit deployments and handling tactical coordination.
Reserved and introverted, Meyrin contrasts with Lunamaria's outgoing nature. She maintains friendly relationships but often stays close to her sister, harboring an underlying inferiority complex. Meyrin develops a one-sided romantic interest in Athrun Zala, creating tension with Lunamaria, who initially shared this attraction. Her vital technical skills demonstrate expertise in multitasking, communications, system hacking, and firearms handling.
During ZAFT's pursuit of Athrun at Gibraltar, Meyrin shelters him in her room and aids his escape by hacking base security. Their escape attempt in a GOUF Ignited mobile suit is foiled by Shinn Asuka; they crash into the ocean and are presumed dead. ZAFT leadership frames them as traitors. Rescued by Orb forces, Meyrin recovers aboard the Archangel and later joins its crew. She supports Athrun's recovery, participates in the Three Ships Alliance, and serves as CIC officer on the Eternal.
At the conflict's climax during the Battle of Messiah, Meyrin contacts Lunamaria, convincing her to stand down and revealing her survival. Post-war, she reconciles with Lunamaria and Shinn, returning to ZAFT with them. A year later, she joins the peacekeeping unit Compass, piloting a Cavalier Aifrid mobile suit to support Athrun on infiltration missions into the Foundation nation. She assists in rescuing Lacus Clyne and Kira Yamato during the Foundation Conflict, notably evacuating Athrun underwater to evade nuclear strikes.
In the comedic shorts "Gundam SEED Character Theater," Meyrin appears as part of the Minerva crew sent on time-travel missions by Gilbert Durandal to disrupt past events. These segments portray her in ensemble scenarios alongside Shinn, Lunamaria, and Rey Za Burrel.
