Description
Eita Tanaka is a fifteen-year-old high school student and a well-built classmate of Yuji Sakai and Keisaku Sato. Standing 175 centimeters tall, he has a large but slim physique that grants him excellent athleticism. He has a fair complexion, short dark hair, and a charming face, but is notable for rarely opening his eyes fully.
Eita has an awkward and innocent personality, and he is notably dense when it comes to romantic matters. For a significant period, he remains completely unaware of his close friend Matake Ogata's feelings for him, despite her obvious hints. He shares a long-standing friendship with Keisaku Sato that dates back to their middle school years, and the two often got up to mischief together. Like Keisaku, Eita has a strained relationship with his parents.
When the Flame Haze Margery Daw arrived in Misaki City, she randomly chose Eita and Keisaku to serve as her guides. After the two discovered a magical map called the Crystal Altar, which had been used by the Crimson Denizen Friagne, they began acting as support for Margery in her battles. Eita develops a strong respect, admiration, and affection for Margery, whom he calls ane-san, a term for a respectable elder sister. His feelings of devotion toward Margery are more apparent than those of his more reserved friend.
Over the course of the story, a pivotal incident occurs during the school festival. Margery goes berserk and accidentally shoots Matake Ogata inside a Fuzetsu, a sealed battlefield. Witnessing Ogata receive a near-fatal injury traumatizes Eita and forces him to realize how truly important she is to him. This crisis serves as the catalyst for their relationship to transition from close friendship to that of a couple. The trauma of the event also leads Eita to make a significant decision about his life. He chooses to permanently distance himself from the conflicts involving Flame Hazes and Crimson Denizens. Parting ways with Keisaku and Margery, he resolves to live a normal human life, focusing on his relationship with Ogata and his own safety over supernatural warfare. Eita does not possess any supernatural powers. His notable abilities are physical, stemming from his well-built physique and natural athleticism. His character arc concludes with him committed to an ordinary, peaceful existence with Ogata.
