OVA
Description
Komugi Nakahara, a seventeen-year-old cosplay idol working for talent agency Kiri Pro, juggles modeling, endorsements, and acting, often clad in elaborate costumes. Her civilian life is marked by workplace struggles, facing frequent reprimands from Kiri Pro's president, Yui Kirihara, over disappearances and mishaps fueled by her hyperactive, easily distracted personality. A constant source of comedic friction is her rivalry with fellow idol Megumi Akiba, defined by mutual insults targeting their opposing physiques. Komugi harbors a romantic interest in Kyosuke Date, a popular singer from a competing agency.

Chosen by Maya, goddess of Vaccine World, Komugi transforms into Magical Nurse Witch Komugi, a magical girl battling viruses threatening Earth. Her transformation activates when threats appear, detected by Mugimaru, her perverted rabbit-like companion from Vaccine World. In this form, she wears a distinctive nurse-rabbit hybrid costume and wields magical medical equipment, including oversized syringes for flight and her signature healing attack, the "Moe Moe Magical Shower." Her initial mission targets the virus entity Ungrar and his minions.

Her primary magical foe is Magical Maid Koyori, the evil alter ego of her friend and coworker Koyori Kokubunji. Unconsciously spreading viruses in this state, Koyori creates a complex dynamic where Komugi must repeatedly fight her amnesiac friend, even as their civilian friendship and professional collaboration continue. Komugi's manager, Shiro Mibu, acts as a grounded counterbalance; often exasperated by her disappearances—forcing him to cover her jobs, sometimes in her costumes—he nonetheless shows underlying loyalty by defending her to President Yui.

In the OVA sequel *Magikarte Z*, Komugi continues balancing idol duties with magical battles. A notable incident sees her accidentally expose Megumi during a swimsuit photoshoot, intensifying their rivalry. The narrative increasingly shifts focus toward comedic workplace scenarios, idol industry parodies, and absurdist vignettes, sidelining the original virus-fighting premise. Later adaptations, like the 2016 television series *Nurse Witch Komugi R*, reimagine Komugi with significant changes to her background—adding family life and a school setting—and position her as a more conventional aspiring idol who gains magical abilities through different means, establishing a distinct continuity from the original OVAs.
