Description
Myoga, a flea yōkai with centuries of service to the Great Dog Demon Tōga, guards the Tessaiga’s hidden location within his deceased master’s grave. Known for his self-preserving instincts, he retreats from threats, notably evading Sesshōmaru’s attempts to seize the sword. Despite his flight tendencies, he emerges during pivotal moments to aid Inuyasha’s group, sharing vital knowledge of foes, relics, and history. When the Band of Seven poisons Kagome, Miroku, and Sango, he intervenes, extracting toxins with precise expertise and crafting antidotes—a rare display of bravery that contrasts his usual avoidance of conflict. He withholds the Tessaiga’s ability to suppress Inuyasha’s demonic blood, fearing the sword’s abandonment.

Decades later, he mentors Inuyasha’s daughter Moroha, affectionately dubbed “Grandpa Myoga,” deciphering her Beniyasha transformation triggered by Izayoi’s inherited rouge. He clarifies how the New Moon strips Towa and Setsuna of their powers but spares quarter-demon Moroha, anchoring his guidance in ancestral lore. His role evolves as he aids the younger generation against threats like Kirinmaru’s Four Perils, unraveling secrets such as Tokotsu’s lineage and the Rainbow Pearls’ significance. Though prone to vanishing during crises, he contributes strategically—forming protective barriers or exposing enemy vulnerabilities.

Personally, he dodges commitment to fiancée Shoga, mirroring his evasive nature. His habit of opportunistically consuming allies’ blood sparks irritation but occasionally proves lifesaving, countering venoms or reviving incapacitated comrades. Across eras, Myoga remains a living archive, weaving centuries-old wisdom into contemporary battles while clinging to his cautious pragmatism. His abrupt departures often serve as unwitting alarms, signaling looming dangers to those who decipher his retreats.
