Description
Midori Kohakobe is a vampire who appears in the anime Call of the Night. She is a member of Nico Hirata's clique and works as the most popular maid at the maid café Vamps, where she goes by the name Midori. Her appearance is that of a high school-aged girl with short black hair and brown eyes, and she carries a slightly androgynous look. She is self-aware of her good looks and can come across as self-absorbed, yet she maintains a generally friendly and laid-back personality. Despite being friendly, she can be blunt and has a fragile ego; if someone rejects her, she becomes resentful and borderline obsessive, as seen when Kou Yamori tells her she is not his type, prompting her to try harder to win his affection.
Midori is highly invested in romance and enjoys drinking alcohol. She specializes in using her conversational skills to charm shy, introverted men, and she has a particular preference for virgins and otakus. Unlike some other vampires, she has little interest in creating many underlings, and she has only one familiar: a man who goes by the handle "lovegreen" or LG, whom she calls Love-kun. Their relationship is easygoing and marked by mutual admiration. She is acquainted with Nazuna Nanakusa and befriends Kou after they visit the maid café. Her role in the story is largely as a supporting figure who introduces Kou to the social dynamics among the city's vampires and occasionally challenges his feelings for Nazuna.
Her motivations center on enjoying the company of people she finds interesting, particularly awkward otaku types, and engaging in playful romantic pursuits. She is not driven by a desire to build a large circle of thralls, but rather by a casual enjoyment of the night and its interactions. In terms of character development, her reaction to Kou's rejection shows a willingness to adapt her approach, though her core personality remains consistent. As a vampire, she possesses the typical abilities of her kind, including enhanced strength, the ability to float or jump great distances, and immunity to most physical harm, though she becomes vulnerable if touched by an object from her human past that she held dear. Her human past is not elaborated upon in the story. Midori is a laid-back, cunning, and sociable vampire who adds depth to the night world's social fabric.
