Asako Nakamura is a 14-year-old human girl with a hot-headed, tomboyish personality. She shares a close childhood friendship with Ushio Aotsuki and Mayuko Inoue, the trio often seen together. Her family runs a ramen restaurant, forming part of her background.

A significant development occurs when Hakumen no Mono's influence causes widespread memory loss, leading Asako to forget Ushio and Tora. She and Mayuko are subsequently kidnapped by the east and west guardians. During captivity, Asako volunteers as a sacrificial replacement for Mayuko to forge a new Beast Spear, reasoning that Mayuko’s abilities could instead trap Hakumen no Mono. Ushio intervenes to rescue her during this act.
