As a young adult, he triggered a demonic assault on an airplane, crashing it and killing all passengers. He harvested their magnetite—a life essence essential for rituals—to summon the powerful demon Ose. Transferring to Kojiro's school, he targeted Saki Yagami due to her exceptional magnetite reserves.

He manipulated female classmates into a sexual ritual, enabling kobold demons to possess them. These possessed students hunted Saki but failed initially. He later abducted Saki and implanted a parasitic demon in Marika Kusaka to attack her allies. His alliance with the demon Gagyson fractured when Gagyson violated their pact by attempting to kill Kojiro. Gagyson ultimately betrayed him, discarding him after extracting his usefulness.

Confronting Kojiro's mortal peril during a battle against Ose, he executed a life-transfer ritual to resurrect Saki as the goddess Konohana Sakuya, sacrificing himself. His consciousness merged with the goddess post-death, permitting communication with Kojiro through her in the spiritual realm.

Physically, he possesses white hair, piercings, and a choker. His surname "Kobayashi" blends the characters for "small" (小) and "forest" (林); "Akito" combines "chapter" (章) and "person" (人). The manga adaptation diverges, casting him as a first-year computer club student and the reincarnation of the angel Shamshel, contrasting the OVA's narrative and establishing a separate origin.
