TV Special
Description
Kumadori is a tall, large-framed man with pinkish hair and a right eye that rarely opens. His appearance and mannerisms draw heavily from kabuki theater, featuring distinctive makeup and dramatic poses like holding one hand outstretched. He wears standard CP9 attire—a black suit, pants, and shirt—paired with a green tie, flip-flops over green socks, and hand guards tied around his palms. After the timeskip, his attire changes to white following his promotion to CP0.
Eccentric and theatrical, Kumadori punctuates sentences with "YOYOI" and speaks in a drawn-out, rhythmic style reminiscent of kabuki. He adheres to a strict samurai code of honor, frequently attempting seppuku to atone for perceived dishonor but dramatically failing each time due to his reflexive Tekkai hardening. He references his "mother in heaven," Kumadori Yamanbako, sobbing during battles and asking opponents to relay messages to her, unaware she is actually alive and was the assassin who trained him. He composes haiku mid-combat and believes real men should not cry or surrender, a principle he enforced against Chopper.
Proclaiming himself a sennin (hermit), Kumadori utilizes Seimei Kikan to control autonomic functions. This allows him to weaponize his hair, rapidly digest food to adjust weight, and enhance combat techniques. His primary weapon is a khakkhara staff, used with Rokushiki martial arts for attacks like the piercing Shigan Cue and fireball-projecting Shishi Kebab. He carries a dedicated seppuku knife. Post-timeskip, he demonstrates proficiency in Armament and Observation Haki. His Doriki was measured at 810 during CP9, growing stronger before joining CP0.
During the Enies Lobby Arc, Kumadori fought Nami but was intercepted by Chopper after she stole his key. He dominated most of their battle and criticized Chopper for crying, but was overwhelmed by Chopper's Monster Point transformation and thrown back to the courthouse. Post-defeat, he and CP9 were framed by Spandam, dismissed, and forced to fund Lucci's medical treatment by performing in St. Poplar. They later defended the town from pirates but fled after Lucci killed a captain. In the "Episode of Merry" special, his role aligns with his Enies Lobby portrayal. By the Final Saga, he is reinstated and promoted to CP0.
He wore kabuki makeup as a child, bears scars on his torso and arm, and fed Hattori during CP9's exile. He stands roughly twice Nami's pre-timeskip height, placing him mid-range among notable characters.
