Matthias Klie is a German actor and voice actor born in 1961 in Lüdinghausen. He has been active in the German dubbing industry since 1984, lending his voice to numerous characters in film and television. His voice acting career is underpinned by a foundation in stage and on-camera acting, as well as formal training in classical singing and musical performance, skills he honed under the guidance of esteemed voice actors Maria Körber and Joachim Kerzel.
Klie is particularly well-known for his extensive work in anime, where he has voiced a wide array of characters. His most prominent and long-running role is that of James, the male member of the bumbling Team Rocket trio, in the German adaptation of the Pokémon anime. He has provided the voice for this character for over two decades, appearing in numerous television series episodes and theatrical films, including Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, and Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution.
