Description
Sakura Minamoto entered the world on April 2, 1991, living as an ordinary Saga Prefecture high school student. Despite showcasing exceptional academic and athletic potential—achieving top mock exam scores and rigorous training to become her age group's fastest runner—misfortunes dogged her. She contracted mumps on a school play performance day, failed entrance exams due to unrelated delays, and faced similar thwarting setbacks. These experiences plunged her into depression and learned helplessness until discovering idol group Iron Frill, particularly the resilient Ai Mizuno. Ai's example motivated Sakura to pursue her own idol dream. Rushing to submit an audition application on April 7, 2008, she was fatally struck by a truck.

Resurrected a decade later as a zombie by former classmate Kotaro Tatsumi, she was the first of seven to regain consciousness, yet suffered complete amnesia about her human life. Designated "Number 1" in the idol group Franchouchou, she initially followed Kotaro's instructions blindly, hoping to recover her memories. Physically, she retained her human form—158 cm tall with long rose-pink hair often tied by a blue and pink ribbon—but displayed distinct zombie traits: grayish-blue skin, glowing red eyes, a large facial scar, and bandages covering fatal injuries. Her limbs could detach accidentally or intentionally but reattached easily.

Her personality blended kindness, empathy, and emotional vulnerability. Serving as Franchouchou's emotional anchor, she mediated conflicts and diligently cared for unconscious member Tae Yamada. Her innate compassion fostered easy bonds, like crying alongside Saki Nikaido during emotional moments. Yet frustration or pressure could trigger assertiveness, evident when she confronted Saki, Ai, and Junko via impromptu rap battles during early performances. Her determination sometimes manifested as stubborn tunnel vision in group activities.

Memory recovery defined her character arc. Fragments returned during performances, culminating in full recollection after a second truck collision in Season 1. This restored her human memories but erased her zombie experiences, plunging her into depression over past failures. Isolating herself, she rejected Franchouchou until Tae and others intervened. By Season 1's end, she regained all memories—human and zombie—integrating past struggles with her undead identity, allowing her to fully embrace her idol dream. In Season 2, she actively supported Kotaro during his depressive episode and helped stabilize the group after professional setbacks.

Her abilities included athletic agility, academic intellect, and rapid mastery of singing and dancing. As a zombie, she possessed non-senescence, elemental absorption (like converting lightning into energy), and phosphorescent vision. These traits enabled Franchouchou's unconventional performances, surviving extreme concert conditions.

While spin-offs like *Zombie Land Saga Gaiden: The First Zombie* focus on Tae Yamada's backstory, Sakura's relationships within Franchouchou emphasized mutual growth: she idolized Ai pre-death and later collaborated with her as an equal. Her bond with Kotaro evolved from distrust to reciprocal reliance as they worked to revitalize Saga.
