Description
Dr. Bofoi, known by his hero alias Metal Knight, is an S-Class hero initially ranked 6th in the Hero Association. He is a genius scientist who operates almost entirely through remotely controlled robot armies, rarely appearing in person. His true appearance is that of an elderly, balding man with prominent buck teeth. He calls himself a righteous scientist and holds a deep-seated belief that humanity's extinction is imminent.

Metal Knight's personality is rational, suspicious, cold, and self-interested. He makes decisions based on scientific data and shows little emotional attachment to others. His primary motivation is the advancement of his own technological capability and the preservation of humanity through the development of overwhelming defensive systems, though his methods often prioritize data collection and self-preservation over immediate heroics.

Within the Hero Association, Metal Knight serves not only as a combatant but also as a major benefactor, providing weaponry sponsorships, constructing the organization's headquarters, and designing a global defense network. He is frequently called upon to clean up aftermaths of major battles, such as containing the radioactive fallout from Garou's rampage and treating survivors. During the Meteor Incident, he deployed a robot solely to test weapons before withdrawing when the test proved ineffective. Despite his high rank and contributions, his aloofness and secretive nature make him a figure of suspicion among other heroes.

Metal Knight's key relationships include the Hero Association itself, which depends on his technology but does not fully trust him. He is also linked to Drive Knight, an advanced AI that he originally created as the Machine God G Series Zero but which was stolen by Dr. Kuseno and reprogrammed with information that characterizes Metal Knight as evil. Drive Knight later reveals to Genos that Metal Knight was responsible for the mad cyborg that destroyed Genos's hometown, adding a personal layer to their conflict. Additionally, Metal Knight has designed battleships for the government, and other heroes such as King have suggested contacting him during crises.

In terms of character development, Metal Knight's role grows increasingly ambiguous, especially in the webcomic. While he initially seems to be a reclusive but cooperative ally, later events suggest he may have hidden, perhaps antagonistic, motives. He operates with a focus on scientific advancement and control, and his willingness to collaborate with the Hero Association appears conditional.

Metal Knight's notable abilities stem from his vast arsenal of specialized robots. His main combat unit, also called Metal Knight, is a massive robot with three eyes and a huge missile battery on its back. Other robots include Metal Soldier, a small intelligence-gathering unit; Metal Castle, a giant robot with a large cannon; Metal Bishop, a four-armed missile platform; Metal Queen, a floating missile launcher; Metal King, a sword-wielding giant; and Engineering Robot, a four-legged unit used for construction and drone storage. He also operates Level 1 and Level 4 Defense Robots. His technology includes an energy shield that can block attacks, and a strength enhancement system that can exert roughly one-third the power of Superalloy Darkshine. This expansive robotic network allows him to engage multiple threats simultaneously while analyzing combat data to improve his designs.
