Description
Shun Kazami co-created the rules of Bakugan brawling with his childhood friend Dan Kuso. Originally the top-ranked global brawler, he fell to sixth place after Masquerade dominated the rankings. Personal circumstances led to his temporary resignation, involving his grandfather's strict ninja training and his mother's illness. The Japanese dub states his mother gave him a Bakugan as a final gift before her death; the English dub attributes his hiatus to her coma and passing, after which his grandfather allowed him to return to brawling.
Specializing in the Ventus attribute, he employs a calm, strategic approach honed by ninja training. Typically reserved and observant, he rarely displays strong emotions but becomes intensely angry when deeply wronged. Though operating as a lone wolf, he values teamwork and acknowledges his reliance on friends in critical moments. His sharp instincts detect deception, such as Ren Krawler's lies in Gundalian Invaders. He initially distrusted BakuNano technology as dangerous for inexperienced brawlers but later adopted it when necessary.
His appearance evolves: In Battle Brawlers, he wears a purple jacket over a dark shirt, black pants, and a ponytail. Infiltrating the Vestals in New Vestroia, he adopts their black turtleneck, elbow-length gloves, and jeans, later adding a knee-length green vest and cutting his ponytail. Gundalian Invaders features a green ninja-style shirt with purple and gold accents, black pants, wristbands, and purple-and-green boots. Mechtanium Surge Arc 1 shows a light-green shirt under a white jacket with a dark-green choker, tan pants, and boots; Arc 2 features a green jacket, green shirt, and white pants.
His primary Bakugan partners shift: Storm Skyress (Battle Brawlers), Master Ingram (New Vestroia), and Hawktor (Gundalian Invaders). Temporarily in Gundalian Invaders, he partners with Pyrus Lumino Dragonoid after swapping with Dan. Mechtanium Surge sees him use Ventus Taylean (Arc 1) and Ventus Jaakor with Darkus Skytruss and Orbeum (Arc 2), later combining them into Ventus/Darkus Magmafury. He utilizes Battle Gear like Silver Swayther and Battle Suits such as Ventus Fortatron.
Key developments include his initial reluctance to rejoin brawling until Masquerade's threat emerged, his journey to the Doom Dimension to rescue Dan, and overcoming an illusion of his mother to evolve Skyress. He released Skyress after defeating Naga. In New Vestroia, he partnered with Ingram after accidentally warping there and aided the Resistance against the Vexos. During Gundalian Invaders, he ranked second in Bakugan Interspace and allied with Princess Fabia to expose Ren Krawler's deception. In Mechtanium Surge, his rank dropped to fourth due to reduced battling for ninja training, and he grew suspicious of Dan's secretive behavior regarding Drago's power fluctuations.
