TV-Series
Description
Toru Amuro navigates a triple life defined by distinct identities. His true self is Rei Furuya, a Japanese Public Security Bureau agent. He infiltrates a criminal syndicate under the codename Bourbon while maintaining the civilian alias Toru Amuro, working as a waiter at Café Poirot and apprenticing with private investigator Kogoro Mouri.

His childhood involved frequent fights and bullying due to his mixed Japanese heritage and natural blonde hair. Treated for injuries by Elena Miyano, who called him her patient and referred to herself as his "sensei," this forged his early connection to the Miyano family, including Elena's daughters Akemi and Shiho. Akemi later guided him to Elena's hospital during a critical incident. His close friend Hiromitsu Morofushi gave him the childhood nickname "Zero."

He presents a cheerful, generous personality daily, bringing food to colleagues and showing patience under stress. Yet this contrasts with manipulative tendencies and a willingness to employ psychological traps. He has planned to hospitalize an innocent person for operational goals and allowed suspects to destroy evidence to test deductive abilities. Despite this ruthlessness, he demonstrates loyalty to Japan's ideals, showing mercy to adversaries and performing acts of kindness like protecting associates during altercations.

Relationships reflect tension: he harbors intense animosity toward Shuichi Akai, whom he believes killed his associate Scotch. Within the criminal organization, his secrecy draws comparisons to Vermouth, and mutual distrust defines his dynamic with Gin. As Bourbon, he initially clashed with FBI agent Andre Camel but later acknowledged Camel's operational assistance. Daily interactions include colleagues like Azusa Enomoto at Café Poirot and Public Security contact Yuya Kazami, with whom he occasionally socializes.

Daily activities reveal further dimensions: he adopts a stray dog named Haro, engages in cooking and car maintenance, and participates in community moments like teaching a child to ride a bicycle. These coexist with high-stakes responsibilities pursuing criminals and managing his identities.

Physically, he possesses a handsome appearance characterized by dark skin and light blonde hair. Early undercover work involved wearing glasses, discarded after establishing his alias, their necessity unclear. His typical attire leans toward casual black clothing.
