Description
Miku Izayoi is the sixth Spirit to appear in the Date A Live series and one of the main heroines in the film Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement. Originally a human, she gained the power of a Spirit around the same time Shido Itsuka first met Tohka Yatogami. She is a tall, strikingly beautiful girl with long purple hair and gray eyes, recognized for her slow, gentle way of speaking. She works as a highly famous and popular idol singer, adopting the stage name Diva.
Miku possesses a deep-seated hatred for men, stemming from traumatic experiences in her past that caused her to lose trust in them. This hostility is so strong that Shido initially has to cross-dress as a girl named Shiori to interact with her. After being saved by Shido and coming to understand his genuine kindness, her attitude softens considerably. She develops a strong affection for Shido and also becomes very physically affectionate toward the other female Spirits, whom she refers to as her darlings. Her personality is flamboyant and dramatic, but beneath her confident idol exterior lies a vulnerable individual who once believed she had nothing besides her singing.
In the film Mayuri Judgement, Miku has already been sealed by Shido prior to the events of the story. When a mysterious giant sphere called Kerubiel appears over Tengu City, formed by the residual spiritual energy of the sealed Spirits, Shido is tasked with going on a series of dates with each girl to stabilize their emotions. Miku's date with Shido takes place at a concert venue, highlighting her musical nature. Her role is one of the six Spirits whose emotional state contributes to the sphere's stability. During the climax, when Kerubiel transforms into a rampaging Angel, Miku joins the battle in her Spirit form. She uses her Angel, Gabriel, which takes the form of a large organ, to broadcast sound-based attacks that can brainwash others and amplify her allies' power. In the final fight, she provides crucial support by using her music to buff her teammates and distract Kerubiel, proving her growth from a selfish and antagonistic figure into a reliable member of the group.
Miku's key relationships are central to her character. She is deeply attached to Shido Itsuka, seeing him as the one who gave her a new reason to live beyond her singing. She also shares a close bond with the other Spirits, particularly Tohka Yatogami, with whom she is often affectionate. Her interactions with the group in the film show her as a playful and loyal friend who will fight alongside them to protect the peace Shido has built.
Her development in Mayuri Judgement is subtle but meaningful. Already redeemed from her earlier antagonism, she demonstrates a willingness to cooperate and use her talents selflessly. Her abilities remain formidable: as a Class-A Spirit, she possesses high spiritual power, and her Angel Gabriel grants her the power of mass hypnosis and sonic manipulation. Her Astral Dress, named Shaddai El Chai, is primarily yellow with blue and white accents, reflecting her vibrant idol image.
