TV-Series
Description
Maria is a supporting character in Arakawa Under the Bridge who runs the farm that supplies dairy and produce to the residents living under the bridge. She has very long pink hair and pink eyes, and she is described as having a beautiful appearance. Her personality sharply contradicts her looks: she is a sadist who casually delivers incredibly harsh insults to others and cannot go a week without verbally attacking someone. Her blunt, cutting remarks are a defining trait, and she takes pleasure in demeaning those around her. In the story, she primarily functions as the community's food supplier and as a recurring source of verbal conflict and dark comedy. Her most significant relationship is with Sister, a fellow resident and a former soldier. During a past war, Maria was an opposing spy who attempted to extract information from Sister by gaining his trust, and this history informs their dynamic in the present. Maria shows little to no character development over the course of the series; she remains consistently cruel and unchanging. Her notable abilities include her skill in running a farm, her talent for psychological manipulation and interrogation honed during her time as a spy, and her capacity for delivering devastating insults with calm composure.
