ONA
Description
The character known as Jack is the titular Ultra Warrior from the classic Japanese live-action series Return of Ultraman. This giant, silver-and-red being is a member of the Inter-Galactic Defense Force from the Land of Light in Nebula M78. Towering at forty meters and weighing thirty-five thousand tons, he is the fourth official Ultra Brother to visit Earth, though he was originally known only as the Returned Ultraman before being formally named Jack years later.

Jack's background on Earth begins with his human host, a passionate and headstrong young man named Hideki Go. Go was an aspiring race car driver whose life was cut short when he sacrificed himself to save a young boy and his dog from a rampaging monster. Profoundly moved by this selfless act of courage, Jack merged his life force with Go’s dying body, resurrecting him and becoming one entity. This shared existence allows Jack to operate on Earth, while Go retains his own consciousness, personality, and memories. After the merger, Go uses his newfound powers to join the Monster Attack Team, or MAT, fulfilling his duty to protect the planet from the monster menace.

In terms of personality, Jack as an Ultra is defined by his deep respect for humanity. He chose Hideki Go specifically because he saw the potential for greatness in a human being, learning the value of a mortal life through Go's heroism. Their relationship is particularly close; Jack is one of the few Ultras who remains in constant contact with his host, and their consciousnesses frequently influence one another. Go's struggles, injuries, and emotional state directly affect Jack, and at times Jack has refused to allow the transformation when he disapproved of Go’s actions. This symbiotic bond makes their partnership a true meeting of equals rather than a simple master-servant dynamic. Jack’s primary motivation is to protect Earth, a mission he pursues with serious determination, but his interactions with Go reveal a being capable of learning and adapting to human emotions.

Jack’s role in the story is that of a powerful yet often challenged defender. Unlike some of his predecessors, he suffers defeats and struggles against his enemies, forcing him to constantly improvise and improve his fighting skills. This narrative highlight of training, perseverance, and overcoming weakness is central to his character arc. A pivotal moment in his development occurs after a terrible defeat by the space monster Bemstar. At this low point, the veteran warrior Ultraseven appears and bestows upon Jack the Ultra Bracelet, a versatile and powerful weapon that would become his signature tool. This gift transforms his combat style, allowing him to project various weapons and energy attacks. Another major turning point is the tragic death of Go’s close friends, Ken and Aki Sakata, at the hands of the alien Nackle, demonstrating that the consequences of his battles directly affect the human life he has come to share.

Key relationships define Jack’s existence. Beyond his profound link to Hideki Go, he shares a strong fraternal bond with his fellow Ultra Brothers, particularly Ultraman and Ultraseven, who come to his aid in times of crisis. On Earth, his life is shaped by Go’s personal connections, including his girlfriend Aki, her brother Ken who serves as a father figure and mentor, and a young boy named Jiro who looks up to him as a brother. These relationships ground the cosmic hero in very human stakes, and the lessons Go learns from them become part of Jack’s own understanding of life.

Notable abilities include Jack’s unique transformation method, requiring no physical device such as a Beta Capsule; Hideki Go simply raises his arms and mentally initiates the change. In his Ultra form, Jack possesses the standard arsenal of a powerful warrior, including the Specium Ray, a cross-arm beam finisher, and the Ultra Slash, a razor-sharp energy disc. However, his most distinguishing asset is the Ultra Bracelet. This multipurpose tool can extend into a long spear, transform into the Ultra Cross as a throwing weapon, create protective shields, and generate the devastating Ultra Hurricane spin technique. The bracelet’s versatility makes Jack one of the most resourceful fighters among the early Ultras, earning him a reputation for ingenuity in battle. After leaving Earth, Jack returns to the Land of Light, where he eventually takes on the role of a coach at the Ultra Dojo, passing on his hard-won wisdom to new generations.
