Lightning, a French bulldog appearing across multiple Bakugan seasons, sports distinctive white fur accented with brown markings: brown ears, head patches, eyes, a heart-like symbol on his side, and a small brown tail. Originally a stray discovered in an alley near Dan Kouzo's home, he became the unofficial mascot and lookout for the Awesome Ones (later Awesome Brawlers). His collar features two small balls functioning as Bakugan storage and release mechanisms. Present during the second Great Collision at Pinpoint Park in Bakugan: Battle Planet, Lightning discovered and bonded with his first Guardian Bakugan, Darkus Howlkor. He battled alongside the Awesome Ones against adversaries including the Exit Team, Strata the Hunter, and Col. Armstrong Tripp, leveraging his animal instincts for tactical advantages and communicating with Bakugan through barks. In "Dog Daze," he found a new Bakugan partner, Artulean; initial friction between Artulean and Howlkor escalated when Magnus Black turned Artulean against the team before Lightning restored him. During Bakugan: Armored Alliance, Lightning partnered with the Bakugan Tretorous. By Geogan Rising, Howlkor was no longer active, replaced by a new Darkus Guardian Bakugan, Ferascal. In Evolutions, Howlkor returned as Lightning's Guardian Bakugan in an Elementally evolved form. Participating in Bakugan: Legends, Lightning battled The Swarm and its leader Hanoj. He mastered the "Nova Technique" alongside others, learning to utilize specialized Nova Cores in combat. His battle record reflects both victories and defeats across team and solo engagements. Lightning remains notable as the franchise's first animal and non-human brawler.
