Description
Lia Venegas, a Chilean-American member of the Awesome Ones (later renamed Awesome Brawlers), joined the group after Dan Kouzo and Wynton Styles discovered her talent. She impressed them by improving a video stunt with unsolicited suggestions, securing her role as the team's director. Lia handles filming and editing for their ViewTube channel, using her artistic and expressive nature to showcase Bakugan discoveries, a passion partly inspired by her mother's career as a news reporter. Confident, creative, and empathetic, Lia developed a strong stance against bullies from lifelong experiences defending her uniqueness. She possesses a hair-trigger temper when insulted or provoked, channeling her fearlessness into protecting others and Bakugan from misuse.
Her appearance features slightly tanned skin, blue hair typically in a ponytail secured by a salmon-pink headband, and violet eyes. She wears a pale bluish-white puffy shirt over a turquoise tank top, turquoise shorts, and blue-and-white boots with yellow laces.
Lia's journey began during the second Great Collision when she partnered with her first guardian Bakugan, Haos Gorthion. She later rescued Haos Pegatrix, an alicorn-type Bakugan, liberating it from thugs using aggression-inducing devices. Lia's protective instincts also led her to befriend Haos Cubbo by understanding its initial annoyance toward humans. She confronted antagonists like the Rowdy Reds and Kravitz, who used technology to forcibly activate Bakugan, damaging property and turning public opinion against them. During a satellite crisis, Lia and Gorthion aided civilian evacuations, helping restore trust in Bakugan.
In the following season, Lia acquired Haos Sairus after battling Monica, a ghostly brawler who passed Sairus to her before vanishing. Sairus proved friendly yet formidable in battle, aligning with Lia's Haos specialization in light-based attacks. Her role expanded as the team faced global threats from organizations like AAAnimus, which sought to exploit Core Cells from the Maze, an underground dimension where Bakugan gain enhanced abilities.
Later, Pegatrix became unavailable, leading Lia to partner with Haos Fenneca as her new guardian Bakugan during escalating conflicts involving evolved Bakugan forms and new adversaries. Lia developed her leadership within the team, used her filming skills to document Bakugan phenomena, and participated in worldwide missions to protect Core Cells from villains like Tiko and Haavik. The group's rebranding from "Awesome Ones" to "Awesome Brawlers" in season two reflected their evolving focus.
