Description
Dragonoid, often called Drago for short, is a Pyrus attribute Bakugan with a dragon-like appearance who serves as the Guardian Bakugan and partner of the human brawler Dan Kouzo in Bakugan: Geogan Rising. This iteration of the character is part of the second generation of the franchise, known as the Battle Planet series, of which Geogan Rising is the third season.

In terms of background, Dragonoid first appeared during the event known as the Great Collision, when Bakugan first awakened on Earth. By the time of Geogan Rising, Dragonoid has already shared a long history of battles and world-saving adventures with Dan and their friends, the Awesome Brawlers. Following the events of the previous season, Bakugan: Armored Alliance, Dragonoid and the other Guardian Bakugan were severely depleted of their energy. They entered a state of deep slumber to heal from their last great struggle. It is during this period of recovery that the events of Geogan Rising begin.

Dragonoid's personality is noble, committed, and driven by a desire to achieve greatness, seeing himself as a prince on the path to becoming the king of all Bakugan. He is highly selective about his human partner and is confident in his choice of Dan, though his partner's approach can be a source of occasional frustration. His personality mirrors Dan's in several key ways, as he is impatient, recklessly bold, and very competitive in battle. However, Dragonoid possesses a layer of wisdom and a more pragmatic outlook that often balances Dan's pure instinct, making their partnership effective. His passionate fighting style is a perfect match for Dan's forceful and instinctive techniques.

A primary motivation for Dragonoid in Geogan Rising is his return to action to protect both Earth and the Bakugan home world of Vestroia. His personal drive to become stronger and to uphold his role as a protector is constant. The story shows him arriving back on Earth through an unstable mobile gate, where he reveals that the other Bakugan used the remains of their own energy to heal him, allowing him to make the journey. Once reunited with Dan, he is motivated by the need to face new threats, including powerful enemies like the golden Bakugan Viloch and the mysterious Geogan creatures, to preserve the bond between the two worlds and the future of brawling itself.

Within the story, Dragonoid serves as the primary powerhouse and the leading force of the Awesome Brawlers. His return in the episode "Drago Returns" is a pivotal moment, as the team had been without their Bakugan partners and were vulnerable to challengers. His presence immediately restores their ability to fight and defend themselves. Throughout Geogan Rising, he and Dan confront antagonists such as Strata, Gregorius Reed, and the clone Bakugan Crakanoid. He plays a direct role in protecting their friends, like Emily, and in discovering the origins and nature of the new Geogan species that appear.

The most significant relationship for Dragonoid is unquestionably with his human partner, Dan Kouzo. Their bond is one of deep mutual respect, friendship, and synergy, built over numerous battles. While they argue due to their similar headstrong natures, their trust in each other is absolute. Dragonoid also shares a strong camaraderie with the other members of the Awesome Brawlers and their respective Bakugan. It is this collective bond that ultimately saved him, as the other Bakugan sacrificed their residual energy to heal him after his previous ordeal, demonstrating the profound loyalty and interconnectedness of the group.

Dragonoid undergoes a notable development in his journey leading into and through Geogan Rising. Initially returning from a state of near-death and exhaustion, he begins the season at a lower power level, having just been healed. His evolution is marked by the ability to achieve a new, more powerful form later in the series called GeoForge Dragonoid. This advanced form is achieved by fusing his own power with six Geogan allies: Arcleon, Stingzer, Arachnia, Talan, Montrapod, and Titan King. This fusion represents a significant power escalation, allowing him to counter the might of his primary adversary, Ultimate Viloch. Furthermore, Dragonoid's physical design itself saw an unexplained but distinct change in Geogan Rising; his chest crystal, previously circular in shape, became a diamond-like form, which is reminiscent of his original series counterpart from the first generation of Bakugan.

As a warrior, Dragonoid possesses a vast array of notable abilities aligned with his Pyrus (fire) attribute. His standard techniques include Twisting Inferno, where he fires a fiery dragon projectile; Flame Wave, a red explosive beam; Tail Crusher, a physical strike with his tail; Backdraft, which causes the ground to erupt with fire; Guard Sphere, which creates a defensive shield of fireballs; and Bit Blast, which launches small fireballs from his wings. He also has specialized moves tied to different combat modes, such as Dramatic Flame and Pyro Punch for Strength Mode, and Scorching Speed for Speed Mode. In his advanced GeoForge Dragonoid state, his abilities and power are magnified, allowing him to engage the most dangerous foes on equal footing.
