Description
Goku Furinji operates as a private detective in futuristic Tokyo. A former police officer, he resigned to become an independent investigator, driven by loyalty to ex-colleagues. This loyalty fuels his investigation into a series of police suicides connected to arms dealer Genji Hakuryu. During this case, he confronts a female assassin wielding cybernetic peacock tail feathers that induce hypnosis. To resist her control and survive, he deliberately stabs out his own left eye. This sacrifice results in him receiving an advanced cybernetic replacement called the "God's Eye" from an unidentified benefactor; the origin and provider of this technology remain unexplained.

The God's Eye implant grants him near-total access and control over Earth's computer systems. Its functionalities include X-ray vision, infrared imaging, database intrusion, and electronic targeting assistance. The implant also interfaces with his primary weapon, the Sun Wu Kong rod. This extendable staff serves multiple combat roles: a pole vault for urban traversal, a blunt force weapon, and a ranged energy projectile launcher. Goku demonstrates proficiency with the staff due to prior bojutsu training, though his rapid mastery of its enhanced functions after receiving the implant suggests accelerated learning.

Physically, he possesses dark hair, often styled in a mullet. His signature attire consists of a suit jacket, a tie worn over a bare chest, and dark trousers, creating a distinctive look.

His cases frequently pit him against powerful underworld figures and modified humans. Key adversaries include the faux-polite yet sadistic arms dealer Genji Hakuryu, responsible for the police suicides, and Cassandra, a shapeshifting villainess capable of transforming into a winged demon. He also encounters assassins like a topless female android equipped with back-mounted laser weaponry and motorcycle handlebars, and Mr. Wong, a human trafficker hiding cybernetic roller-skating legs beneath a blanket. His investigations consistently expose criminal conspiracies utilizing advanced technology and psychological manipulation.

Personal relationships often end tragically. Several women connected to him die during his cases, a recurring pattern sometimes called the "Cartwright Curse." Notable losses include Yoko, hypnotized and mortally poisoned; Bonnie, a motorcycle racer he fails to protect, leading to him carrying her corpse away; Reiko, an assassin killed by her own robotic weapon during an attempt on his life; and Li-Chen Li, whose nude corpse is found covered in toxic tattoos. These repeated failures mark a consistent element of his experiences.

His personality combines fierce determination with a willingness to employ lethal force, especially when seeking vengeance for fallen colleagues or loved ones. He exhibits resourcefulness in combat, frequently turning enemies' weapons or traps against them. Following the defeat of major antagonists like Cassandra, he consistently resumes his detective work, implying an ongoing commitment to his role despite the personal costs.
